Updated by Hamza Haq on August 27, 2023: We've fixed a couple of mistakes in the article where the voice acting role incorrectly attributed. Some new links have also been added to keep the article up to date.

20 Naaber (Annoying Fan) - CohhCarnage

Naaber (Annoying Fan) - CohhCarnage

A nod to the original Baldur's Gate's Noober and the Annoying Fan from The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Naaber is one of the side characters players are going to encounter during their adventures in BG3.

In a surprise announcement, it was found that CohhCarnage, a popular streamer, and Twitch personality, was the voice behind Naaber. Fans are already clamoring to push Cohh into the river as soon as they meet him in the Forgotten Realms. Cohh is also known for voicing The Prophet in Cyberpunk 2077.

19 Mizora - Tamaryn Payne

Mizora - Tamaryn Payne

By the time Act 3 rolls around, players will have developed a love/hate relationship with Mizora. Though initially, this demon is only interested in Wyll, Mizora will set her sights on the player character before the end, and she can be charming when she wants to be.

Voiced by Tamaryn Payne, Mizora is a recurring character in BG3. Players might recognize Tamaryn from her role as Lohse, one of the main characters in Divinity Original Sin 2. Tamaryn is an old favorite of Larian fans, and they’re ecstatic to have her back.

18 Raphael - Andrew Wincott

Raphael - Andrew Wincott

Raphael is another recurring villain in the story who promises to take the tadpole out of the player character and his allies but for a price. Raphael’s charming, velvety smooth voice is delivered by Andrew Wincott.

While Andrew has been involved in multiple games over the years, like Anno 1800, The Witcher, and Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, he is mostly known for his part as Adam Macy in the long-running podcast, The Archers.

17 Orin The Red - Maggie Robertson

Orin The Red - Maggie Robertson

A villain through and through, Orin the Red is a shape-shifting, ever-fluid menace of Faerun. Tricky and unhinged, there is no telling what Orin is really thinking at any point. She could try to strike you dead in one breath and fall in love with you the next. There is just no telling what she is up to — at least at first.

Maggie Robertson revealed she was the voice for this character in a trailer that came out just before the game's release. No stranger to video game voice acting, she's had previous roles at Resident Evil Village, God of War Ragnorok, and Rogue Company, to name a few.

16 General Ketheric Thorm - J.K. Simmons

General Ketheric Thorm - J.K. Simmons

The main antagonist of the first stretch of the game, General Ketheric Thorm, is voiced by the excellent J.K. Simmons. Guttural and deep, J.K. Simmons' voice is a treat to experience as an immortal, unfeeling enemy general.

After laying his claim to fame in the movie industry, J.K. Simmons has shifted his focus to voice acting in recent years. His voice acting credits include portraying J. Jonah Jameson in the Spiderverse movies as well as Nolan Greyson, a.k.a Omni-man in Invincible.

15 Lord Enver Gortash – Jason Isaacs

Lord Enver Gortash – Jason Isaacs

Lord Enver Gortash is another main antagonist in Baldur's Gate 3 that players are going to encounter as they approach the city of Baldur's Gate. A politician by trade, he is set to take over the city unless you stop him. Or join him.

Jason Isaacs, most well-known for his portrayal of Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter universe, is the voice of Lord Enver Gortash. He's voice-acted before in small ventures but nothing at this scale.

14 The Absolute - Cissy Jones

The Absolute - Cissy Jones

Little to nothing is known about the Absolute as you journey through Faerun. What we do know is that the tadpole in our character's brain is the work of this Absolute, and then if we choose, we can follow the Absolute as a god, gaining their favor.

The Absolute is being voiced by Cissy Jones, a well-known name in the video game voice acting space. She is most well known for her role as Joyce Price in Life is Strange, but she has also had roles in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Remnant 2, and Dead Island 2, among others.

13 Alfira - Rebecca Hanssen

Alfira - Rebecca Hanssen

A Tiefling Bard and one of the Druids of the Druid Grove you encounter in the first acts of the game, Alfira has quickly become a fan favorite because of her easy-going ways and excellently voiced songs.

Rebecca Hanssen, the voice of Alfira in BG3, is doing voice acting for a video game for the very first time. Until now, she's been mostly working as a TV actor in titles like The Witcher, Home Alone, Dixie, and Creeped Out.

12 Volo - Stephen Hogan

Volo - Stephen Hogan

You encounter Volo at Druid Grove when you first visit it during Act 1 and then multiple times afterward in different camps. In addition to being an excellent Bard, Volo is also a vendor of note, as he's always carrying a Potion of Animal Speaking in his inventory.

Stephen Hogan is a man of many talents. In the industry since 1993, he's been involved in TV series, voice acting, film, and everything in between. Most notably for RPG fans, he's been involved in titles like Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2 and Lords of the Fallen.

11 Jaheira - Tracy Wiles

Tracy Wiles, the voice of Jaheira, has previously voiced bit characters in both of Larian Studios' previous games (Divinity Original Sin and Divinity Original Sin 2). She also voiced background voices in Diablo 4.

10 Minthara - Emma Gregory

Minthara - Emma Gregory

An early villain and potential companion, you'll encounter Minthara as she's planning to attack the Druid Grove alongside her minions. She's a Drow Paladin subservient to General Ketheric Thorm, and an early boss fight if you don't choose to side with her.

Emma Gregory is a familiar name to Larian Studios, appearing in both Divinity games before making an appearance in Baldur's Gate 3 as Minthara. She is most well known for her role as Minerva McGonagall in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and as Lavinia in the Angels of Death TV Series.

9 Halsin - Dave Jones

Halsin - Dave Jones

A Druid from the Druid Grove, Halsin is a potential companion and romantic partner players can encounter very early on in the game. You'll need to free this Druid from the Worg Pens in the Shattered Sanctum.

Dave Jones is a relatively unknown voice actor, only voicing bit pieces in Diablo Immortal before appearing in BG3 as Halsin. He has only been active in the industry since 2019.

8 Karlach - Samantha Béart

Karlach - Samantha Beart

A companion and love interest, Karlach is a Tiefling Barbarian with a tragic backstory. Her chest is fused with an infernal engine that belies her past as an infernal slave sold to the Archdemon Zariel when she was young. Karlach focuses on the positives of every situation, since nothing seems to be as bad as the situation she's already escaped from.

Samantha Béart, the voice of Karlach, is most famous for voicing the player character in Demon Souls (2020) as well as Thomasina Bateman in The Excavation of Hob's Barrow. She has also voiced Random in BBC Radio 4's version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

7 Minsc - Matthew Mercer

Minsc - Matthew Mercer

Minsc is an original companion from the original Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 who makes a reappearance in BG3 as a potential companion. A human Rashemaar warrior, Minsc, alongside his space-faring hamster friend, Boo, are some of the most beloved characters reintroduced in Baldur's Gate 3.

For fans of Dungeons & Dragons and Tabletop games, Matthew Mercer is not a name that needs an introduction. Known for his role in Critical Role and his various voice acting credits, including playing Jotaro in Jojo's Bizzare Adventure and Cassidy in Overwatch 2, Matt Mercer lending his voice to Minsc is a treat and a half.

6 Lae’zel - Devora Wilde

Lae’zel - Devora Wilde

A Githyanki Fighter, Lae'zel is a potential companion who players will meet shortly after being mind-flayed by the tadpole that takes residence inside their heads. Infected by the tadpole, just like the player character, Lae'zel will appreciate having you by her side in her quest to be rid of the parasite.

Devora Wilde, the voice of Lae'zel, is no stranger to video game voice acting. She has voice acted before in multiple titles like Battlefield 2042, Phoenix Point, Arknights, and Total War: Warhammer 3.

5 Gale - Tim Downie

Gale - Tim Downie

Prodigious Wizards are hard to come by in the Forgotten Realms, yet Gale, a would-be companion and love interest, is one of the strongest Wizards you're likely to encounter in the game. Although the bomb inside his chest puts a little bit of a damper on the mood, his charming personality and can-do attitude make up for it.

Tim Downie is a well-known English actor who has mostly been focused on TV series and comedies (Outlander, Paddington, etc) during a big chunk of his career. Baldur's Gate 3 will be his first foray into the world of video game voice acting, and he's already proven himself quite adept at it.

4 Wyll - Theo Solomon

Wyll - Theo Solomon

Wyll is the perfect example of hubris coming back to haunt you. Selling his soul to the Devil to continue his heroic legacy as a powerful Warlock seemed like a good bargain at first glance, but when the Devil comes back to collect, Wyll needs a way out to save his own skin.

With the full release of Baldur’s Gate 3, the voice of Wyll changed hands from Lanre Malaolu to Theo Solomon and he has done it more than justice. This will be the first video game voice acting credit to Theo’s name but he’s no stranger to fantasy voices, having narrated an entire Warhammer 40K audiobook to great success.

3 Shadowheart - Jennifer English

Shadowheart - Jennifer English

Voiced by the excellent Jennifer English, Shadowheart is one of the main companions, and potential romantic partners players will meet as they journey through Baldur's Gate 3. Shadowheart is a Cleric of Shar and holds the Mistress of the Night in high regard. Hiding secrets underneath secrets, Shadowheart doesn't trust easily but will accompany the player to solve the problems you both share.

Jennifer English, the voice behind Shadowheart, is making a return to Larian Studios' voice acting branch after voicing Leya in Divinity Original Sin 2. She was also the voice of Latenna in Elden Ring.

2 Astarion - Neil Newbon

Astarian - Neil Newbon

The only Rogue companion and love interest in Baldur's Gate 3, Astarion has been a fan favorite ever since his release in Early Access. Astarion's story and secrets are a big part of the story, should you choose to keep him as a companion.

An old hand at voice acting for video games, Neil Newbon is a familiar name for those familiar with voice actors in popular AAA titles in recent memory. With titles like Final Fantasy 16, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Resident Evil Village under his belt, Neil lending his voice to Astarion is a win for Larian.

1 Narrator - Amelia Tyler

Narrator - Amelia Tyler

The Narrator is a disembodied voice that...well, narrates players' experiences and choices throughout their adventure in the Forgotten Realms. With the Players' main character being unvoiced, the Narrator sets the tone for how players' dialogue choices are perceived by the game and those around them.

Amelia Tyler voices the Narrator, perhaps the most important voice in the entire game, as it is going to be with you every step of the way throughout Baldur's Gate 3. Amelia is an extremely experienced voice actor whose list of credits deserves more recognition than we can give her. Her voice acted in games like Pathfinder 1 & 2, Hades 2, Divinity 2, A Bard's Tale, and Sea of Thieves, to name a few.
