If a gamer ever wanted to become a student of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hogwarts Legacy is easily the best choice. Alongside spells, clothing, and animal companions, brand-new Hogwarts students can also choose which out of the four Hogwarts Houses they will ultimately live in and be associated with.

The Houses also have unique benefits, color schemes, and connotations for each. For example, each House has its own individual animal companion, clothing options, and side quest. So choosing from House Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Gryffindor will have a significant impact on player experiences. The personality of a player's witch or wizard should be considered too, and for the type of student that might enjoy the colors silver and green, be plotting some light revenge, or is feeling a little too power-hungry, House Slytherin is likely the right choice.

How To Choose Slytherin

After making their way through the cinematic introduction to the game, players will be rushed into Hogwarts Hall at just the last second to the Sorting Ceremony. The Sorting Hat will first mention some "preferences and preconceptions" when atop the player's head. Next, there will be two options, "I can't wait to explore" and "I can't wait to start classes." Keep in mind that this first question has no effect on what House you are sorted into. As a result, the most important part of the questioning comes when the hat says, "I detect something in you. A certain sense of - hmm - what is it?" It's here where a player's choice of trait will determine which House they end up in. For Slytherin, choose the "Ambition" option. If you are curious about the other traits, the following shows how the sorting works out:

Slytherin

Ravenclaw

Hufflepuff

There is one last chance to change a player's House at the beginning of the game, but otherwise, if a player doesn't enjoy their Hogwarts House they can save the game just before the sorting or start a whole new game.

How The Sorting Hat Works

The Sorting Ceremony looks just as it should, with floating candles and an atmosphere of trepidation and excitement. From here, there are two ways in which a witch or wizard can get sorted. First off, players can link their WB Games account and their Harry Potter Fan Club for access to a more in-depth sorting quiz than the game provides. Otherwise, there is the easier quiz from the Sorting Hat itself though its outcome is more predictable than through the fan club. No matter their choice, if players are aiming to join Slytherin, it's here that they'll answer the questions to do so.

What Is The Difference?

The House that a player chooses will end up having a pretty big effect on their overall gameplay in Hogwarts Legacy. For those with a 'fear of missing out' though, it's important to know that the choice of House will not have any impact on the game's narrative. So players won't be missing out on any significant plot points or events by choosing Slytherin over the other Houses. However, there are perks and differences between each one. For every House, players can enjoy options members-only benefits like unique clothing, a common room, and a series of House quests. The House never makes the wizard or witch, however, and players can ultimately choose to play any way they want through the Wizarding World.
