Hogwarts Legacy puts players behind the wand as they explore a mysterious and expanding Wizarding World. The game features a large amount of customization, and besides things like wands, awesome clothing, and character creation, players can also choose which House they get sorted into. For every House there are perks and unique benefits that only the members get to partake in.

So the Sorting Ceremony and which House a player picks inevitably has a big effect on that character's play-through. Between Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff, each one has their own style, color-scheme, and awesome common room. A wizard or witches' personality is important here and players with a tendency for absent-minded genius, creativity, and a love of blue and bronze should strongly consider Ravenclaw.

How To Choose Ravenclaw

Once the introductory section of the game is through, players will find themselves last to arrive at the Sorting Ceremony inside Hogwarts Hall. After being sat down with the Sorting Hat, the first thing it will mention is about "expectations" which will prompt a choice from the player. They must either choose, "I can't wait to start classes" or "I can't wait to explore." Feel free to choose either option as this first question is unrelated to getting sorted into a House. The big part of the questions from the Sorting Hat comes down to when it says "I detect something in you. A certain sense of...what is it?" The next choice has the biggest effect on what House a player gets into, so for Ravenclaw make sure to pick "Curiosity." For info on the other traits, see the following:

How The Sorting Hat Works

Filled with floating candles and terrified students, the Sorting Ceremony is both a nostalgic and inviting introduction to the Hogwarts school. Once sat and ready, there are two methods that players can use to get their witch or wizard sorted. Outside the game, players can link both their WB Games account and their Harry Potter Fan Club and access a round of Wizarding questions that provides more depth and nuance than the in-game quiz from the Sorting Hat. However, players can also take the quick and easy route and simply have the Sorting Hat do its thing. Regardless of their method, players will get sorted in Hogwarts Hall and be a member of their House for the rest of the game. Quick note - there is one chance to change Houses in the early game if players don't like their first choice.

What Is The Difference?

A character's House in Hogwarts Legacy will have a sizable effect on their game in a number of ways. However, most of this effect comes from attitude, aesthetics, and preference. In other words, being a House member in Hogwarts Legacy will not change the overall narrative of the story in any way. While their House membership won't have a direct effect on the story of the game, each House in Hogwarts has its perks. Every specific House has its own unique common room, clothing options, animal companions, and even a side quest. Overall though, the House is made by the witch or wizard, never the other way around, so players should let their journey take them to whatever House suits them best.
