Hogwarts Legacy is a game that lets players become a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in almost every way. The game also has an enormous amount of customization, and aside from the obvious things like clothing, wands, and brooms, players can also choose which of the four main Hogwarts Houses they get put in. Each House has its own unique benefits and perks that come with being a member. This makes the Sorting Ceremony and the House that a player ends up in have a large effect on any play-through of Hogwarts Legacy.

Even though it may not seem so, picking from Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin is a big deal early on. Every House comes with its own amazing common room, color-scheme, and House traits. So for gamers that tend to enjoy black and yellow, make for the most loyal friends, and respect an honest day's work, Hufflepuff just might be for you.

How To Choose Hufflepuff

Hogwarts Legacy sorting ceremony

After getting through the initial sections of the game and getting their students to Hogwarts, players will arrive to the Sorting Ceremony just in time to be sorted with the rest of the new students. Once atop their avatar's head, the Sorting Hat will ask some benign questions and talk about "expectations." This starts the first choice from the player, who will have to answer with "I can't wait to explore" or "I can't wait to start classes." Either option is viable as the first question's answer has no bearing on the House placement, so don't worry about picking wrong yet. The part to pay attention to when sorting is when the hat says, "I detect something in you. A certain sense of...what is it?" This is the most important part of the ceremony and for Hufflepuff, make sure to pick "Loyalty" which will get players into the House. For more info on the hat's options, check out the following:

How The Sorting Hat Works

By the time players have their character sat down and ready to be sorted, they've already learned a few spells and might have a House in mind. However, there is actually another way that players can get sorted and for Wizarding fans, the out-of-game way is a little more in-depth and compelling. Keep in mind, this must be done before completing the Sorting Ceremony inside the game!

Players can connect their Harry Potter Fan Club account with their WB Games account to access a different kind of sorting method where a series of complex questions leads to being sorted in a Hogwarts House. If they have a preference and don't want to wait, players can simply choose from the Sorting Hat through the game and be on their way. Although there is one more chance to change Houses early in the game, players will be stuck with whatever House they're in for the remainder of that play-through.

What Is The Difference?

Their choice of House in Hogwarts Legacy is an important one, although it mostly affects cosmetics, style, and tone more than anything. As a result, players won't be missing out on anything major by picking one House over the other. However, there are some distinct differences between what the Houses do for the player.

For one, each House has its own unique companion, side quest, clothing, and common-room with dormitories. Also, though each House has a unique set of traits and connotations that go along with it, players can forego those elements and play however they want in whatever House they want and are not restricted by their House choice in any way.
