As a beginner, you might be wondering where you should start and how to tackle the seemingly infinite quests and challenges. We have a few tips to streamline your experience and allow you to enjoy all Hogwarts Legacy has to offer.

10 Unlock Floo Flames Often

There's much ground to cover in Hogwarts Legacy, and doing it all on foot would be quite the task. That's where Floo Flames come in; a handy fast travel tool to take you all around the castle and Hogsmeade.

Unlocking Floo Flames as frequently as possible when you first start the game will make the rest of your experience much easier. You won't have to worry about running back and forth between classrooms, and you'll be able to save a significant amount of time to explore other wonders Hogwarts has to offer.

9 Check The Challenge Menu Frequently

A great way for you to level up your character and pull fantastic rewards is by completing challenges. This includes finding Field Guide Pages across the map, completing Merlin Trials, destroying large quantities of enemies, and more. Suffice to say, there's a lot you can gain from challenges.

Sometimes you'll complete a challenge without even realizing it, which is why we recommend checking the challenge menu frequently to pick up your rewards. You'll be able to get some of the best gear in the game from here, and you won't want to miss out on it.

8 Open Every Chest To Gain New Gear

Chests are an incredibly common occurrence in Hogwarts Legacy, and can hold some of the best gear you can find. The only caveat with opening all of these chests is that some of them can be, well, quite lame and only give you around 8 Galleon.

Despite this, we recommend opening every chest you come across as they can be hiding something unexpected. We also suggest that you frequently sell old gear to keep your spaces open, as you only have 20 slots at the beginning. You can make a decent bit of money off of gear that's no longer useful to you.

7 Utilize Stupefy & Ancient Magic Often

The first few spells you learn in Hogwarts Legacy are some of the most important and useful. Stupefy can be used after shielding yourself to essentially parry an enemy's attack, and can easily knock them over and help you win the fight.

Along with Stupefy, using Ancient Magic at the beginning of the game is the best way to take out enemies in one hit. Since your stats aren't something to write home about just yet, Ancient Magic will carry you through these battles at the beginning.

6 Create Combos To Deal More Damage

Yes, you can defeat enemies just by using the basic spell and others one at a time. However, creating combos with the spells available to you will yield a higher amount of damage on the enemy. Considering you don't have much health at the beginning, you'd be wise to create combos against your enemies as much as possible.

Despite having only a few spells at the beginning along with the basic cast, you can still create quite a few combos out of these. You can work on your combos with Lucan at the Crossed Wands Dueling Club. You'll be able to use these combos to your advantage to help you survive the first few bosses.

5 Stock Up On Wiggenweld Potions

Hogwarts Legacy Potion Class

As we mentioned before, you don't have much health in the beginning of Hogwarts Legacy. No need to fret, though, as Wiggenweld Potions will save you from defeat often. You'll be given quite a few of these for free at the start.

When you gain the ability to brew your own Wiggenweld Potions, we suggest doing this as much as possible. You'll only need 1 Horklump Juice and 1 Dittany Leaf, and you'll be good to go. Enemy attacks can deal a significant amount of damage, and you'll want to be prepared for this.

4 Utilize Enemies Collection Page To Find Out Weaknesses

Similar to many other RPG-like games, enemies have weak points to allow you to deal double the amount of damage. In Hogwarts Legacy, after battling a new enemy for the first time, you'll be able to open their page in the Collection section to discover what they are weak against.

For example, armored trolls are vulnerable to Flipendo, as it will catch them off guard and cause their club to hit them in the face. There are a lot of incredibly powerful enemies in Hogwarts Legacy, and learning what makes them tick will help cut down on your dueling time.

3 Make Professor Assignment Side Quests Your Priority

As you jump straight into your many classes at Hogwarts, you'll find that you are a bit behind everyone else as a new Fifth-Year. To remedy this, your professors have offered to help teach you new spells outside of class.

These side quests are usually quite easy and only require you to practice a bit of dueling strategies, including dodging, using counterattacks, and more. Whenever you see these quests pop up on your list, make them your first priority so you can grab that new spell as a reward to blow your enemies away.

2 Explore Outside The Confines Of Hogwarts

Though you might be tempted to stick to the main path as you start the game, its highly recommended that you explore outside of Hogwarts and beyond to gain extra experience and pick up hidden rewards.

If you choose to do this, however, make sure you're prepared for battle first, especially at the beginning. Stay stocked up on those Wiggenweld Potions as we mentioned earlier, otherwise you might be attacked by a giant nest of spiders and meet your demise. Taking the risk is well worth it, though, as you can find a lot of gear and Galleons.

1 Use Revelio Often

Our number one suggestion for beginners is to use Revelio as much as possible once you learn it. This spell is essential to your journey as a student, as it will essentially reveal everything about the surrounding area to aid your search.

Whether you're on the hunt for nearby Field Guide Pages, or are just looking for some ingredients for a potion, Revelio will reveal everything to you and speed up your search. No need to go aimlessly exploring around the castle, as Revelio will lead you directly to what you're looking for.
