To get this spell, you will need to complete all of the tasks from a Professor's assignment first. Follow our guide, so you can begin using Wingardium Leviosa as soon as possible.

Start Professor Garlick's Assignment 1

In order to unlock Wingardium Leviosa, you will need to begin Professor Garlick's Assignment 1. This assignment will become available to you after you complete the main quest, In the Shadow of the Estate. To complete Professor Garlick's assignment, you will need to obtain two things and use them in battle:

  • Venomous Tentacula
  • Mandrake

Acquire & Use A Venomous Tentacula

The first thing you'll need to do for Professor Garlick is obtain a Venomous Tentacula and use it. There are two different ways that you can get this plant; you can either purchase it directly from the Dogweed and Deathcap shop in Hogsmeade for 600 Galleon, or you can grow one yourself. You can purchase Venomous Tentacula Seed at Dogweed and Deathcap as well for 1,050 Galleon.

To grow one, you can either enter the Room of Requirement or grow it in the Herbology Classroom. You'll need to make sure you have a Large Pot available for it to grow, and you'll want to have at least one Moonstone available. This plant takes 15 minutes to grow, and will yield one Venomous Tentacula unless you use fertilizer.

Acquire & Use A Mandrake On Multiple Enemies Simultaneously

Just like with Venomous Tentacula, you can either purchase a Mandrake directly or grow one yourself. It costs 500 Galleon at Dogweed and Deathcap, while Mandrake Seed will cost 800 Galleon. If you'd prefer to get the quest done immediately, we recommend just buying one instead of growing it.

You can grow Mandrakes in any pot size in the Room of Requirement, and you'll need one Moonstone as well. Mandrakes will grow a bit faster than Venomous Tentacula at 10 minutes. When the time is up, you will then want to take these two plants into battle.

You can find multiple enemies in the Forbidden Forest. When you find some, make sure to choose Venomous Tentacula as your deployable plant. All you'll need to do is release it before defeating the enemies to allow it to fight alongside you.

With the Mandrake, you will need to make sure you use it on two or more enemies to complete the task. Deploy the Mandrake when there are at least two enemies in front of you, which will incapacitate them for a few seconds. You'll then have completed both tasks successfully.

Attend Herbology Class & Return To Professor Garlick

The last thing you'll want to do after completing both tasks is go to Herbology Class during the day. You can find the Herbology Classroom nearby to the Quidditch Pitch. After class ends, approach Professor Garlick to begin learning Wingardium Leviosa.

Hit the button prompts on-screen while tracing the line. Afterwards, you can practice Wingardium Leviosa on the boxes in the classroom. You can manipulate exactly where you want to place it by using this spell.
