Hogwarts Legacy gives players the opportunity to take on the role of being their very own witch or wizard. A big part of the RPG-element of the game is casting spells, which make up the majority of ways players interact with the Hogwarts Wizarding World around them. Players use and cast individual spells for picking locks, feeding pets, and of course, for wizard battle.
Whenever players face enemy wizards, monsters, and other baddies, Hogwarts Legacy features a surprisingly unique and refreshing fighting system where casting spells becomes serious business. Spells can disrupt enemies, send them flying across the room, and even set them on fire. That's where Incendio comes in, one of the earliest and overall best offensive spells in game. Incendio's damage and traits can be upgraded and maxed out too, but perhaps not in the most obvious ways.
Incendio's Talent Upgrade
There are a number of offensive spells in Hogwarts Legacy and each one features a specific upgrade through the Talents portion of the start menu. Players will have to spend a Talent point, which they receive upon leveling their character up, and their character has to be at least level 3 in order to upgrade Incendio in this way. The upgrade will allow the casting of Incendio to release a ring of flame around your character.
Incendio roughly has the same range as before but now all enemies within range will be affected. This basically turns Incendio into an area-of-effect spell which is great considering how often enemies will surround a player. The upgrade to Incendio also gives players more strategic options and mechanics when considering how to build their fighting strategies going forward.
Talents & Upgrades To Combine With Incendio
Although there is only one Talent upgrade available for Incendio, several other Talents can be paired well with the fire spell. One of the best early on is Basic Cast Mastery, which gives a decrease to the cooldown of players' spells and, in this case, will allow for quicker use of Incendio during fights. Another great Talent combination is the Accio Mastery. This upgrade gives Accio the ability to pull in multiple enemies at once.
The idea is to use the upgraded Accio to pull in multiple enemies and fry them all with a follow-up Incendio. Another damage upgrade to consider is through the Traits associated with clothing. These can, by a certain progression point in the game, be accessed through the Magic Loom in your Room of Requirement. There you can upgrade the damage of spells, like Incendio, in up-to three tiers on each item of clothing. Only one trait can be used per clothing item.
Spells To Combine With Incendio
Incendio is a close-range offensive spell, but it also can be risky to cast, given that your target is probably quite close in proximity. Due to this fact, Incendio goes well with spells that use crowd control and prevents enemies from attacking. Accio, as mentioned before, is a great pairing because it can bring enemies, especially ranged ones, in close enough for Incendio to finish them off.
However, control spells that repel or stagger are great too. So things like Depulso, Descendo, Flipendo, and Transformation are great to set up an Incendio, especially when players need to buy time to get in close or get away to safety. Of course, the same goes for the Protego and Stupefy combination too, which is a great chance to run in with Incendio and melt the enemies away.
