Sebastian Sallow is one of the three companions with whom you will spend the fifth year at Hogwarts and will take you on a dangerous and amusing adventure in the footsteps of Salazar Slytherin himself, one of the founders of Hogwarts, together with Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff.
Sebastian is ready to get deep into obscurity and uncover some of the darkest secrets that lie beneath the soil of Hogwarts and within its walls to help his beloved sister Anne, who is suffering from a terrible curse — and friends don't leave friends behind.
In The Shadow Of The Undercroft
After getting acquainted with Sebastian during the first lesson of the Defence Against The Dark Arts class and challenging him in a duel that resembles the vibes of the Harry Potter movies, you will be introduced to the Undercroft, a secret room that is hidden behind a fancy closet. During this quest (which is part of the main quest line), inside the Undercroft and your first meeting together, and after completing a wand movement mini-game, you will be taught the Confringo spell by Sebastian, a Blasting Curse, and the core part of your damaging combos.
In The Shadow Of The Estate
The second step of this relationship guide is represented by another task that is part of the main quest. During In The Shadow Of The Estate, you will head to Feldcroft, a quaint village in the Highlands around Hogwarts, and meet Anne, the ill sister of Sebastian.
To start this quest, you must be at least level 15, but it is advisable to be at least level 16 in order to unlock Tier 2 Talents that will grant you the edge in the fights. After defeating a bunch of goblins, Ranrok's Loyalists, you will find the first connection between the Highlands and the Undercroft.
In The Shadow Of The Bloodline
This step is easy and short and is linked to a side quest. You will have to speak to Ominis, a friend of Sebastian, who will reveal to you some terrible information regarding a hidden Scriptorium of Salazar Slytherin. You will get introduced to his dreadful experience with one of the Unforgivable Curses, and you will have to start thinking about which stand to take. Although it does not include a true morality system, learning and using such forbidden spells will influence your playthrough and your experience in the world of Hogwarts Legacy.
In The Shadow Of The Study
You will complete this step of the relationship path by completing three significant steps:
- Open the door by using Incendio or Confringo on the goblets on the top of the statues, and descend into the depths and face a terrible trial that led Ominis' aunt to death.
- Unlock three gates by aligning the respective two stacked symbols on each pillar topped by snakes that will bite you every time you insert the wrong combination.
- Take a stand regarding the use of Unforgivable curses. With the first option, you will refuse to learn Crucio, and Sebastian will cast a spell on you to open the last door, while choosing the second and third options will let you learn the curse, and you will respectively undergo the curse or cast it on your Slytherin friend.
After completing these steps, Sebastian will obtain the spellbook of Salazar Slytherin.
In The Shadow Of Discovery
After completing the main quest Charles Rockwood's Trial, you will have to go to the Undercroft, witness an argument between Sebastian and Ominis, and then briefly discuss with the latter. You will become aware of the next significant step of the quest, find a Relic that, according to what was said by Sebastian, can let you reverse Dark Magic curses.
In The Shadow Of Time
After completing the Fire and Vice quest, you will unlock this step. Near Feldcroft, you will explore a catacomb, in which you will have to solve environmental puzzles involving skeletons.
- Accio and Vingardium Leviosa will let you put the bones on pillars to create bridges and on the door to proceed further in the first section.
- For the second part that involves symbols, you will have to cast Accio on the handles near the doors. You will have to follow a top-down order for each of the doors.
In the last part of this quest, you will have to take a stand regarding the Unforgivable Curses. You will have the chance to learn Imperio, but only if you ask Sebastian directly or, afterward, if you refuse to side with Ominis during his dialogue and you have no second thoughts.
In The Shadow Of Distance
Another filler and short mission that will lead you to the next significant step. You will merely have to speak to Sebastian in the Undercroft.
In The Shadow Of The Mine
After obtaining the Transformation spell, that will be taught to you by Professor Weasley, you will have to reach Sebastian at the Overlook Mine, defeat the enemies inside, clear spiderwebs with fire spells like Confringo and Incendio to open a pathway, and solve a simple puzzle that will require you to cast the basic spell with the right trigger on the symbols to open the door.
After obtaining a canvas of the triptych and the entry of Isidora's Journal, you will enter the portal that will lead you back to the Undercroft, where you will have to place the portrait in its spot.
In The Shadow Of The Mountain
To retrieve the final triptych canvas piece, you will have to follow almost the same pattern as the previous quest in the homologous situations. The additional steps will require you to levitate an object right after fixing the path using Reparo on the debris blocking the staircase. Eventually, you will head back to the Undercroft through the passageway. Upon completing the portrait with the reward of this quest, you will access Isidora's memory through the Pensieve and unlock the next step.
In The Shadow Of Hope
In a dialogue-driven short quest, you will meet Sebastian and Anne and become aware of the growing concern of Solomon, their uncle, who is afraid of the descent into the darkness of the Slytherin student.
In The Shadow Of The Relic
This is one of the most heart-touching quests of the entire game and will end up with a shocking revelation. In order to complete this mission, you will have to follow these steps:
- Meet with Ominis and Anne at the entrance of the Feldcroft Catacomb.
- Defeat the Inferi, bearing in mind to ignite them since, without fire spells; they are damage immune.
- Solve the skeleton puzzles with the Accio and Wingardium Leviosa combo, as you did in the previous quests.
- Defeat Solomon in a challenging boss fight and focus on him since the Inferi spawns endlessly.
After witnessing an emotional cutscene, you will have to follow Sebastian outside to the catacomb, and you can stigmatize its choice and refuse to learn Avada Kedavra, or you can say that everyone should know that curse and follow the evil footsteps of the darkest wizards.
In The Shadow Of Fate
This step is probably the most important one of Sebastian's relationship quest, and after the terrible murder of his uncle Solomon, you have to choose his destiny in dialogue with Ominis:
- If you choose to turn him in and don't change your mind, Sebastian will get arrested and taken to the Ministry of Magic.
- If you choose not to turn him in, he will stay at Hogwarts. You will also still have the chance to learn the three Unforgivable Curses.
In The Shadow Of Revelation
It is the prelude to the final part of Sebastian's relationship. In this short quest, you will tell your friend the terrible truth behind Anne's curse. It wasn't the goblin's work, but the responsibility for the deed was Victor Rookwood's, one of the main antagonists of the game, Ranrok's ally, and Charles Rookwood's descendant.
In The Shadow Of Friendship
To start the last step of this questline, you must complete the Main Story first. Depending on your choice regarding Sebastian's arrest, you will have a dialogue in the Undercroft. If you decide to turn Sebastian in, you will meet Ominis; otherwise, you will find Sebastian waiting for you.
