As you progress through the main story and uncover the secrets behind ancient magic, you’ll become acquainted will each of the four Keepers. In Hogwarts Legacy, these Keepers won’t immediately regard you as the “chosen one.” Instead, you’ll have to prove yourself to them by completing each of their trials.

Percival Rackham’s and Charles Rockwood’s trials required you to head into a chamber akin to a dungeon, solve countless puzzles, and defeat a formidable Pensieve Guardian. Niamh Fitzgerald’s trial will challenge you in a whole different way, by entering the very pages of an ancient story, The Deathly Hallows. Here’s how to complete the trial without getting erased by death itself.

Becoming The Headmaster

After discovering that the next trial’s entrance is in the Headmaster’s office, you seek out the help of Professor Fig in finding a way in. His solution is to transform you into the Headmaster himself, so you can get the password from his house-elf. After drinking a swig of Polyjuice Potion, you transform into him and then make your way to the Main Hall to talk to the house-elf.

With a little bit of luck, you are able to learn the password and head to the top of the Grand Staircase. After whispering the password to the gargoyle statue guarding the office, you’ll head up the spiral staircase and find the book behind the Headmaster’s desk. Once you approach it, you are sucked into the pages and enter a black-and-white, hand-drawn reality.

The Invisibility Cloak

After entering the book, you’ll first be tasked with finding the Invisibility Cloak. In this part of the trial, you are being hunted by a gigantic reaper and the smaller reaper minions that are combing the town. With the help of your disillusionment spell, you’ll need to avoid getting caught as you locate the cloak.

For the most part, this part of the trial is pretty straightforward. As you approach each section of the town, you’ll need to observe the reapers’ movements and make your way around them when they aren’t looking. Each section is marked by an appearance of the giant reaper, signifying another round of sneaking around the smaller reapers will follow. Be patient, and if needed, wait it out until you fully understand the patterns of their movements before making your move, and you’ll reach the cloak in no time.

The Elder Wand

Elder Wand being used against enemy

The second Deathly Hallow you will find is the most powerful wand ever made, the Elder Wand. This time around, you are given the wand immediately and will need to use it to battle several waves of enemies as you make your way through the level.

The wand lives up to its name and will nearly one-shot every dark wizard and mongrel you encounter with any spell you use. There are a couple of spots that can be challenging in this part of the trial, even with all of that extra power. This is mostly when you encounter the trolls while fighting the lesser enemies. In the last battle, you’ll have to fight two trolls at once, and it can get a little hectic dodging their attacks while the smaller enemies close in on you. Focus on taking down the trolls first, and reserve your ancient magic for them. Stay agile, and remember you can use health if needed. Once you take them all down, you’ll be heading straight into the final part of the trial.

The Sorcerer’s Stone

Like the Elder Wand, you are given the Sorcerer’s Stone right away. In this final phase of the trial, you will not be in danger at all. Instead, you will make your way through a town of grieving people, all attending the funeral of Niamh Fitzgerald herself.

When you finally reach her, you’ll find a giant reaper looming over her body. The reaper will disappear as you approach the tomb, and face Niamh, stone in hand. As she sits up from her resting place, she explains that even if you were to use the stone to raise her from the dead, what would be brought back would only be a shell of who she was. From there, she’ll lead you to the end of the trial and her pensieve memory. After watching the memory, you’ll find yourself back in reality. Walk through the gateway to return to the Map Chamber and complete the quest.
