There are many students wandering the halls of Hogwarts in Hogwarts Legacy. Some of these students will act as companions, with their own storylines for you to follow, while others will give you more straightforward one-off side quests to complete. These side quests offer decent gear rewards, more XP, and sometimes some extra Galleons to spend at Hogsmeade.

Beginning 'Beeting' A Curse

Beeting A Curse Quest Crypt Location

To begin this quest, head to the greenhouse section of Hogwarts, where the Herbology class is. You'll find a student named Samantha standing around, muttering about the fears she has for her brother. After being explained the whole situation, she'll mark the location of the family crypt on your map and ask you to go there to place the family sigil on the long-dead body of her family member.

Player About To Fight The Riparian Troll

The location marked on the map will show the crypt being along the eastern side of the region just south of Hogwarts. Fly to the marked area, and your character will remark that you are at the correct crypt. Bring either Confringo or Bombarda, as there will be a few sections of stacked rocks blocking your path that will need to be cleared.

It is also important to bring a damage-focused set of spells and a few potions, as you'll have to fight an infamous foe to get to the final area of the crypt. This foe is a named troll, and you'll fight it in a large open room towards the end of this short dungeon. Be sure to charge up and bring a few ancient magic spells to try and make this fight much easier. If you have Avada Kadavra unlocked, you're also able to make instant work of this boss and kill it with that one spell.

Should you fight this boss the old-fashioned way, be sure to focus mainly on damage-based spells, as its sheer size makes it immune to levitation spells. There will be a few items, such as rocks and barrels around the cave, that can be thrown for moderate damage and a brief stagger, Despite this troll's size, it moves very fast and can be a surprising challenge for a side quest.

After defeating the troll, head to the back room, deeper into the dungeon, where you'll find an open casket. Interacting with it will have you placing the family crest where it needs to go and complete the request. Return to Samantha back at Hogwarts to inform her of the good news. You can request more money by mentioning the troll, which will offer no further gameplay effects beyond the additional money.
