As you uncover the mysteries surrounding the main questline in Hogwarts Legacy, you will get to know a few students along the way. Some will be casual acquaintances, while others will play a bigger role in your journey.
In your initial adventures with Poppy Sweeting, you set out to learn more about the illegal activity of some poachers, and end up taking down a beast-fighting ring, freeing one of the captured dragons, and finding one of its eggs. This time around, Poppy needs your help in reuniting the egg with its mother. This guide will show you how to complete the quest without being burnt to a crisp.
Finding The Dragon’s Lair
After your previous quest with Poppy, she spent some time researching the location of the dragon’s lair, so you can reunite her with her egg. While she doesn’t know the exact location, she has zeroed in on a particular area not normally accessible by freely roaming the Highlands.
As the two of you make your way into this new area that is unique to the quest, you’ll quickly see signs of both the dragon and the poachers in pursuit of it. You’ll cautiously make your way through a winding ravine, catching a few glimpses of the dragon while going unnoticed. Eventually, you will reach a poacher camp and have to fight a couple of mongrels. After killing them, repair the bridge using Reparo and prepare to face the dragon head-on.
Returning The Egg
You’ll have to face the dragon head-on in the next area. Rather than fighting it, you’ll need to avoid getting burned by its flames as you make your way through three separate areas. The first time you face the dragon, you’ll make your way to the doorway under its feet by taking cover behind rubble and moving from cover to cover between the bursts of flames.
The second encounter is similar to the first, except this time there is also an alternate path to the left of the area. Head up the stairs and into an enclosed space to find some treasure, and then make your way back into the main area and dodge the flames as you move closer to the dragon. In the final area, you’ll be in a more open space just below the dragon’s lair. This time, the dragon will fire off three blasts before pausing. Once you’ve heard the third blast, run for the closest cover, and continue the process until you are near the rock the dragon is perched on.
After reaching the dragon, she will fly away giving you a brief reprieve from the onslaught of attacks. Make your way through the caves until it lets out. Here, you’ll find another broken bridge that you can repair using Reparo. You’ll find the dragon’s lair on the other side. After returning the egg, the dragon will realize you are not an enemy and fly away with it, ending the quest.
