Though Kafka has been a part of the Honkai Star Rail world since the beginning, the new Version 1.2 update has brought a new Companion Mission with the Stellaron Hunter: Letter from a Strange Woman.
In this Companion Mission, you will need to defeat a bunch of enemies nearby to Kafka and Blade. Then, Kafka will want to play a truth or lie game with you, where you will have the opportunity to learn more about her, yourself, or those around you.
Head To Kafka's Location
To start, you will need to head to Kafka's location within the Divination Commission after you respond to her text messages. You will have many different responses based on the options you pick, but you can begin the mission by either immediately approaching Kafka, or asking Himeko and Welt's opinion, or even reporting Kafka to the Seat of the Divine Foresight. For us, we decided to immediately approach Kafka to get the mission started.
After beginning your talk with Kafka, she will ask you, "So... was this your choice? To respond to my request for help?" to which you can reply with these three options:
- Yes, it sounded like you needed some.
- I haven't made my choice yet.
- No, I'm here to refuse your request.
No matter which you choose, you will end up at the next point of the mission that involves a battle with some enemies.
Clear Out The Roaming Enemies Nearby
There will be two locations marked on your map with some enemies for you to take out. We started with the enemies in the southern region of the Divination Commission, consisting of three Abomination enemies. Once you've finished them off, head north to take out the second round of enemies. This will be another set of three.
Afterward, you'll want to head back to Kafka and Blade's location and speak with Kafka.
Start Truth Or Lies Game With Kafka
Once you return, Kafka will want to begin the game of Truth or Lies. Her first question will be: "What do you think about me?" Your first choices will be:
- Tell the truth.
- Tell a lie.
Since this is essentially the trial run for the game, you can choose either option without it affecting the overall outcome. The next choices will either have (Truth) or (Lie) next to it based on which first option you chose. Here is how you can reply:
- I like you.
- I think you're pretty good.
- I don't care about you.
- I dislike you.
- I hate you.
Again, choose any response you prefer. It won't affect how the mission plays out. Then, you'll need to take out the Cloud Knights that appear. You can either attempt to persuade them to leave, or just take them down. We chose to threaten the Cloud Knights, which of course, just ended in a quick battle.
Ask Kafka The Second Question
For the next section of the Truth or Lies game, you'll be asking Kafka the next question. These are the first few options you have:
- (Ask about myself)
- (Ask about Blade)
- (Ask about Kafka)
You'll only be able to choose one of these options, so choose the one you are most curious to learn more about. We decided to go with Blade, and asked, "What is the connection between Blade and Dan Heng?"
To this, Kafka responded: "Master and disciple. Bladie said that in Dan Heng's previous life, Dan Heng was his apprentice. A long time ago, several of Blade's apprentices joined forces to kill him." After this conversation, you'll need to take out the next set of enemies consisting of Cloud Knights and Mara-Struck Soldiers. Then, return to Kafka for the next question in the Truth or Lies game.
Answer The Third Question From Kafka
Kafka will ask you the third question in the game of Truth or Lies. She will ask: "Do you want to see me again?" Here are the options you have, which you will want to choose the one you truly feel:
- (I want to see Kafka again)
- (I don't want to see Kafka again)
After you choose the option that is the truth, you will need to decide whether to tell Kafka that truth or lie. In order to properly follow the rules of the game, you'll need to tell the lie. Here are the options we received:
- (Obey the rules of the game) I don't want to see you again.
- (Ignore the rules of the game) I want to see you again.
We chose to obey the rules and told Kafka that we don't want to see her again, which is the lie. With our responses, Kafka tells us that she can't get a read on us. Then, you'll be able to approach her again for the final round of the game.
Ask Kafka The Final Question
For the final question, Kafka will have to answer according to the rules. You'll be given the same options as earlier, as well as one additional option:
- (Ask about myself)
- (Ask about Blade)
- (Ask about Kafka)
- (Venture into a whole new topic)
If you choose to venture into a new topic, you will have these two new options:
- Is destiny predetermined?
- One plus one equals two, right?
Earlier, we asked Kafka, "Is the future predetermined?", to which she replied, "No". So, we ended up choosing, "Is destiny predetermined?" to which she replied, "No". This means that she is telling the truth, so her previous answer was most likely a lie. After chatting with her, you'll need to defeat Yanqing in battle. He is weak to Wind, Imaginary, and Lightning types, and will only have one stage. Finally, you'll have one last conversation with Kafka and Blade before the mission wraps up, and you'll then receive your rewards.
