As you progress in Honkai Star Rail, you will get more quests to do, and they are a great way to take some time off to earn rewards. The Past Will Return As An Avalanche is one such quest that requires you to help an orphanage and retrieve some goods.

Travel To Rivet Town
When you select this quest, you will get the first objective to go to Rivet Town. Once you reach there, there will be a cutscene, which begins the quest. You will first have to go to the objective marker to find the supplies. Along the way, you will encounter some powerful level 20 enemies. Once you reach the objective, you will meet a boy named Eric at the back of this area.
Head To The Orphanage
After the conversation with Eric, you must head to the orphanage to find more supplies. However, once you reach it, you will have to fight a powerful Ice Out of Space. Ensure all your party is fully healed before engaging in this fight. Once you defeat Ice Out of Space, you can collect the supplies from the orphanage.
There will be another cutscene, after which you have to collect the last supplies from the area. Once you finish the cutscene with Clara, head back to Seele. This will complete The Past Will Return As An Avalanche Quest, and you will get 700 Trailblaze EXP, 80 Stellar Jade, 6 Adventure Logs, 3 Condensed Aether, and 1 Ghost From the Past. Along with those rewards, a new quest named Lying in Rust will unlock.
