A YouTuber by the name of Tyler Green recently uploaded a video in which he challenged himself to make a Pokemon Horror game as quickly as possible, with each passing day doubling the amount of money he'd have to donate to the ASPCA, a non-profit charity that fights for the prevention of animal cruelty.

With the assistance of the well-known AI writing software, ChatGPT, Green was able to complete the project in under 6 days. Of course, the game is not some 15-hour survival horror campaign with highly complex mechanics; it's essentially a horror minigame.

However, it's not always appreciated just how complicated and strenuous the task of game development is. There's a reason why it takes teams of hundreds over three years to make your standard video game these days, so the fact that Green was able to make a fully-functioning decent-looking Pokemon horror minigame by himself in only six days is still mighty impressive.

The game has you move around a forest as spooky-looking Pokemon chase after you, causing a Game Over if they catch you. You can pick up Poke Balls around the terrain, which you can throw at the Pokemon to catch them and help clear yourself a path. Once you've caught ten Pokemon, you can use a rocket ship somewhere around the map to escape, and win the game.

Green did use a lot of free online Pokemon models to speed up the development, and, as previously mentioned, commissioned AI software to assist him in writing code for certain features. Green explained that he used ChatGPT to build a custom shader for the transition of the Pokemon going into the Poke Balls.

He also told ChatGPT to write the code for a rotating graphic, which would revolve around the rocket ship and let players know that they need to catch 10 ten Pokemon in order to access it. Green doesn't go into too much detail regarding having to iterate on the code ChatGPT came up with, which presumably means it was pretty effective with the given task.
