If you are looking to get a guaranteed encounter with the Pokemon, you can take part in the Fascinating Facet Special Research, which is available to all players who buy the event ticket.

The Fascinating Facet research tasks consist of a total of six steps, with the final step being pretty much a placeholder considering there are not any tasks players need to complete for it. The tasks aren't that difficult in the initial stages, but things do start getting trickier for some of the steps, such as hatching eggs or evolving three Pokemon. While these aren't difficult as such, it might take you a bit of time to complete them if you are not prepared beforehand.

The highlight of the event, the Diancie encounter, is in step four of the special research. If you already have a Diancie, you will be getting 25 candies in place of that. Likewise, for players who already own a Diancie T-Shirt and Treasure Hunt Pose will receive 25 Diancie Candy and 100 Diancie Mega Energy, respectively.
