Throughout recent years, character customization has seen a rise in RPG games, and Baldur's Gate 3 is no exception to that. The game boasts a massive customization system with tons of different things, like which race to choose from and detailed appearances, allowing players to truly personalize their character.
However, that leaves the question of whether players can customize their character later on in the game, and the answer is yes and no. Unlike other RPGs, there is no native system that allows you to customize your character, but there is a premium way to do it. This guide will teach you how you can easily customize your character in Baldur's Gate 3.
How To Change Character Appearance
To change your character's appearance, you will need Mask of the Shapeshifter, which is a premium item only for the Deluxe edition of the game. If you own the Deluxe edition, you can grab this mask and start changing your appearance immediately. But, if you don't own the Deluxe edition, you cannot change your character's appearance mid-game.
How To Get & Use The Mask Of The Shapeshifter
You can find the Mask of the Shapeshifter inside the Traveler's Chest at your camp. It's located in the bottom right corner, near the blue tent. Once there, interact with the chest and grab the mask from inside.
Here are the steps for using the mask:
- Open your inventory in the game.
- Wear the mask by placing it as your headwear.
- At the bottom of your screen, you will get a new option to Shapeshift.
- Click on that and choose any appearance you like.
- Once you are done, unequip the mask, and you will retain your appearance.
It's worth noting that when you take a long rest in the game, the effects of the mask will wear off. This means you will have to repeat the process above to change your appearance.
