It's pretty typical of the role-playing game genre to include monolithic fortresses filled with some type of villain, loot, and companions in dire need of rescue, and Baldur's Gate 3 is no different. But this time around, players aren't tackling the undead in cavernous ruins. Instead, it's a camp filled with goblins.

Learning how to infiltrate the goblin camp in Baldur's Gate 3 successfully may prove more challenging than most first imagine. There are numerous pathways in and around the base, skill checks to complete, or outright violence as a way to gain entrance. This guide will help players get inside and get the job done!

How To Infiltrate The Goblin Camp

Baldur's Gate 3 Goblin Camp

There are three primary ways into the Goblin Camp in Baldur's Gate 3:

  • Convince the guards via a skill check.
  • Use stealth to break through the exterior wall.
  • Fight the goblins to gain entrance.

Fighting through the hordes of goblins will prove most challenging, but if players cannot pass a skill check — or don't have the patience for extended stealth gameplay — then combat is the only surefire solution. It's recommended to try one of the other methods first, though.

Persuading The Guards (Skill Check)

The easiest route into the Goblin Camp in Baldur's Gate 3 is to persuade the guards at the entrance of the southern portion of the camp itself. There are multiple ways to accomplish this task:

  • Use the Illithid power, which means players cannot fail the test.
  • Passing a skill check with Fighter, Intimidation, Nature, or Deception.

That said, rolling a skill check requires a high value to succeed. It's best to try for up to 15.

Alternatively, the goblin guard may humiliate the player by forcing them to smear themselves with feces. In doing so, the party will gain entrance at the expense of pride.

Sneak Into The Camp

If players cannot pass a skill check and do not want to fight, they can sneak into the camp. There are two ways to sneak in via the right or left side of the main entrance.

  • Far to the right side of the Goblin Camp entrance, players will find multiple interactive climbing spots. Use these to clamber to the upper ledge, then descend the roots to enter the camp. However, players must remain undetected by the goblin observing the area overhead.
  • Alternatively, players can sneak to the left side of the main entrance. For this route, players will want to cross the fallen tree along the area's southern edge, then jump to the rock ledge.

Move party members one at a time, as the tree will not support the weight of multiple characters at once.

Furthermore, multiple traps are laid out throughout this path, so keep a close eye on where the party walks. Upon moving further down the trail, a small gap will appear ahead. It's here that players may jump through and enter the camp.

Initiating Combat

Lastly, if players choose not to take the stealth approach and don't want to talk to goblins, there's always combat. The party may initiate combat at the front gate, fighting with the guard and the ensuing reinforcements.

Unfortunately, alongside the ground forces, many goblins take to the high ground to rain down hate upon the party. It's easy to fail combat here if the player is unprepared. Otherwise, the encounter is relatively straightforward.
