Baldur's Gate 3 is home to many secrets and puzzles, and not all of them have obvious answers. In particular, players have been scratching their heads about an NPC in Act One called The Addled Frog. Surely, they think, it must have a purpose since it has a unique name.

Where To Find The Addled Frog
The Addled Frog is an NPC located in the Northern section of the Sunlit Wetlands/Putrid Bog Area. You will likely run into this creature at around the same time you meet Mayrina's Brothers and Auntie Ethel. The frog hops in a little patrol pattern on the edge of the zone, looking nervous. Speaking to him normally doesn't yield any obvious answers, but a bit of quick thinking will get you more information.
What To Do With The Addled Frog
You can speak with the Addled Frog by using the spell Speak With Animals. This spell is a ritual spell that can be cast by Druids, Oath of Ancient Paladins, Bards, Rangers, Nature Domain Clerics, Wildheart Barbarians, and Warlocks with the Beast Speech Invocation. However, if you do not have access to the spell, there is also the option of using a scroll or potion.
If you speak with the frog before killing Auntie Ethel, then the frog will warn you about her. This is another way to break the illusion of the Sunlit Wetlands. If you speak to the frog after killing Ethel, then you will get an option to tell the frog she is dead. Telling the frog this will make it do a little dance, then lead you to a special loot chest as a thank-you.
Loot For Helping The Addled Frog
It is not currently known what all the possible drops from helping the Addled Frog are. However, most players seem to receive two spell scrolls and some gold during their playthrough.
