The end of Act 1 gives players of Baldur's Gate 3 a choice between traveling through the Mountain Pass or The Underdark to reach the area of Act 2. For those who picked the Mountain Pass, they'll see an old and overgrown Monastery in the background that can be approached.

Getting close enough to the front door will have the player witness a Githyanki kill a Gnome in a cutscene, making it an immediate point of interest to explore. After the main doors are shut, players will be wondering how to enter the Monastery themselves.

Updated On August 23rd, 2023 By Joshua Leeds: Getting into and through the Monastery is much more than just opening a single door. This article has been updated to include additional information on the encounters that players will have to deal with in order to get to and open the main Monastery door.

Getting Through The Monastery

Player Entering Rosymorn Monastery Through The Broken Window

When facing the large door the Githyanki entered the Monastery through, look to the left at the destroyed stained glass window. Walk through the broken window to enter the building, where you'll quickly find a room full of drunk Kobolds. Use fire magic to ignite the alcohol within them and blow the room up to make this fight much easier. Loot the bodies and make sure you find the enemy that carried the Ceremonial Mace. Head out the back left door, follow the path outside the Monastery, and jump up the rocks until you've reached the roof of the room you were just in.

Two Giant Eagles Near Their Nest

Straight ahead will be some vines leading to the highest point of the Monastery. Make sure you're ready for a fight and climb up to find Giant Eagles. Failing the Animal Handling check will result in the eagles attacking you. Within their nest is the Ceremonial Warhammer which players should grab. Taking the Warhammer will also make the Eagles attack even if you passed the check. After engaging with the first two eagles, one of them will use their first turn to call in other giant eagles that will appear on the lower level you just came from. After clearing out the eagles, head to the far side of the building that you came upon to find more vines leading down.

A Guardian Of Faith In A Locked Room

At the bottom of the vines will be a locked room with a Guardian Of Faith behind a locked door. Open the door and kill the Guardian to obtain the Ceremonial Battleaxe at its feet. The Guardian Of Faith will only react to you, and will damage those who attack it or try to run outside of its area of effect. Now go out of the room the Guardian was in and turn left, following the path down the stairs. In the next room with the talking statue, destroy the barricade in the back left before progressing to the large main room. From here, you'll be on the other side of the main door, which can be opened with the lever along the left wall of the door.

How To Solve The Rosymorn Monastery Puzzle

Rosymorn Monastery Stained Glass Puzzle

With all three Ceremonial weapons in hand, go back outside and climb the vines along the right side, near where you hid when the Gnome was killed. Fight the enemies and follow this short path to the room with the stained-glass window surrounded by pedestals. In this room, you'll need to take the Ceremonial Weapons out of your inventory and place them on the correct pedestals. The Longsword is correct as is and won't need to be touched.

When walking in, place the Battleaxe on the back left pedestal, the Mace on the back right pedestal, and the Warhammer on the far right pedestal. Completing this puzzle will reward players with the Dawnseekers Crest, and the Ceremonial weapons can be picked up on your way out.
