Updated by Erin Rice on June 28, 2023: The longer Final Fantasy XVI is out, the more information players learn about the game. This update added some relevant in-text links to help readers learn more about certain aspects of the game. It also saw a rewriting of some sections for clarity.
Pre-Order Bonuses
Everyone who pre-ordered the game, no matter which edition, will obtain 2 special in-game rewards.
- Braveheart - Weapon (130 Damage and 130 Stagger)
- Cait Sith Charm - Accessory (25% more Gil)
If you pre-ordered a digital copy rather than a physical one, you will obtain another in-game reward.
- Scholar's Spectacles - Accessory (A great accessory, but not the best.)
If you purchased a digital copy, your items will automatically be available after a certain point. If you purchased a physical copy, you should've received a code via email from the retailer you purchased it from or inside the game case that you can redeem via the PlayStation Store.
Deluxe Edition Bonuses
For the physical Deluxe Edition, you will obtain a steel book and a cloth map of Valisthea, the world in which the game is taking place. However, if you purchased the digital deluxe version, you will get a digital mini-artbook and a digital soundtrack. To access these, you just need to download the Square Enix Digital Content Viewer via the PlayStation Store.
Collector's Edition Bonuses
The Collector's Edition features everything mentioned above, plus some pretty cool physical items. However, there is one in-game reward you'll obtain if you purchase this version that you cannot obtain elsewhere. This item is The Blood Sword. You will be able to obtain it the same way you can obtain all other in-game items.
How To Redeem Your Bonuses
As mentioned earlier, if you want to access the mini-artbook or soundtrack, you'll need the Square Enix Digital Content Viewer from the PlayStation Store. If you want to access all your in-game items, you'll need to complete a few things first.
As soon as you access your inventory, a notice will pop up saying that your redeemable items can be obtained via the System tab in the main menu after you complete the quest "A Chance Encounter." This will happen relatively quickly in the game.
Once you complete that quest, you will receive another message telling you that you are now able to claim those items. All you need to do is go to the System tab in the main menu.
Once you pull up this tab, you will see all your items there, ready to be claimed and used. They will appear in your inventory, ready for you.
