Final Fantasy 16 is one of the biggest games of the yea. You have the chance to play as Clive Rosfield to help free humanity. While this is the 16th installment of the series, it does play as a standalone. So you do not have to have played the previous games to enjoy this one.
There will be several boss fights you will come across throughout this game, one of which being Tiamat. You will face Tiamat during the quest titled A Chance Encounter. While it won't be too difficult to defeat him, Tiamat will have a few tricks up his sleeve.
About Tiamat
Tiamat has been in quite a few Final Fantasy games and typically serves as one of the later bosses. He does not last long in this entry, even though he was used a lot in the marketing. You will encounter him at The Nysa Defile, Dhalmekian Republic which. once unlocked, you can fast travel to. Be sure to utilize your best abilities to defeat him quickly.
Defeating Tiamat
At the beginning of the fight, Tiamat will tell Clive, referred to as Wyvern, to take the woman's head. The woman in question is Jill. Clive refuses. Once Tiamat accuses you of betraying the Holy Empire, you will begin your fight. If you're going to spam your attacks, be aware that Tiamat can counter, dodge, and parry them. This which may put you at the disadvantage. It is best to time your attacks with precision, dodge, and wait for him to attack first. Until you get used to his patterns, you could use ranged attacks.
Once you dodge one of his attacks, use phoenix shift to get close enough to attack. Use the rising flames once he begins to stagger, then follow it up with the scarlet cyclone to reduce his health further. When he uses Enruin, this will send three dangerous combos toward you that could drastically reduce your health. Don't try to attack him during this combo as you could take a lot of damage. If you are patient, you can retaliate once this combo is finished.
When he finishes up his third combo, use precision dodge to counter-attack. When you down him, this is when you can spam a few attacks. Move out of the way when he gets to his feet. He will charge at you when he is up.
When he throws attacks at you, you can quickly dodge out of the way and towards him to get one to two hits in before jumping out of the way again. Utilize the precision dodge, precision counter, and magic burst to create an ability chain. This will take down quite a bit of his health. Dodging and patience will be your best friends during this fight. Overall, you should be able to defeat him in a matter of minutes.
Rewards
Once you defeat Tiamat, he will drop Meteorite and Wyrrite. Both can be used as a crafting materials for various purposes such as reinforcing gear and equipment. You will also receive experience.
