Final Fantasy 16 features a tight narrative, brand new combat for the franchise, and a new world worth exploring. On Clive’s journey through Valisthea, he inevitably meets a number of friends and foes. His allies will occasionally ask for additional help outside of Clive’s main quest, opening up a chance to complete optional side quests.

Early in the game, the number of side quests is minimal, though the denizens of Cid’s Hideaway do require some assistance in improving the hideaway. The fourth such side quest, ‘Moving Heaven and Earth’, comes from Bohumil, the man attempting to create a viable garden for the hideaway.

Speaking With Bohumil and Locating Bohumil’s Assistant

After speaking with Bohumil in the back of the hideaway, he will have requested that Clive locate his assistant. She has yet to return from her task of collecting soil samples from Gaultand’s Bales in Orabelle Downs, and he cannot rest until she returns. After Clive accepts the botanist’s request, the player should fast travel to the Orabelle Downs, which is northeasterly of Cid’s Hideaway. From the warpstone in the Downs, Clive will need to travel forward and to the right, up the clear path between the crop fields. A scream will emanate throughout the Downs, directing Clive’s attention to the assistant, who is under attack.

Battling The Spiders and Locating the Soil Samples

Once the player finds the assistant, they will need to jump into action to dispatch the Vine Spinner spider enemies in order to save the girl. The battle consists of two waves of three Vine Spinners each, but they are easily defeated by combining Clive’s Phoenix and Garuda Eikonic abilities. After clearing the area, Bohumil’s assistant will ask Clive to find four samples of soil. Her description of the soil is non-essential, as Clive will see each spot marked with a quest exclamation point in the fields. Hold X to gather each sample until Clive has found all four, then fast travel back to Cid’s Hideaway. The Chief Botanist reveals himself to be rather unsympathetic, but eagerly takes the soil from Clive. His assistant will then speak with Clive before offering him a modest reward and marking the quest as complete.
