About Ultima Weapon

The character in Final Fantasy 16 is showing what the hardest difficulty is called Final Fantasy Mode showing the description of what you can get from it.

You can only get the Ultima Weapon once you complete the main story. This is due to the fact that Ultima Weapon is only attainable in the hidden hardest difficulty in the settings, New Game Plus (NG+). New Game Plus will only be unlocked once you complete every main story mission in the game. Once you begin New Game Plus, there will be a few changes to the gameplay such as the level cap raising to 100 and enemy spawns being different. You will not be able to change the difficulty back to Story Focused or Action Focused once you begin a NG+ game in Final Fantasy Mode, so acquiring Ultima Weapon will be crucial to survive the increase difficulty.

Ultima Weapon is a bit of an iconic weapon in the Final Fantasy series, as it has appeared in most of the Final Fantasy games. It is very often one of the most powerful weapons in the games, as is the case here in Final Fantasy 16.

How To Craft Ultima Weapon

The character in Final Fantasy 16 is showing the crafting menu for the Ultima Weapon for NG+.

Players will be required to craft the weapon (it won't just be given to you), and while there are only 3 items total, some may take some time to obtain which will take patience on your part. When you begin NG+ mode, you will be notified that the Ultima Weapon has been added to the crafting station. However, you won't be able to make it until just before the game's final boss.

Materials

How and Where

The Gotterdammerung Reforged

Blueprint obtained through the Blacksmith Blues side quest, must play Blacksmith Blues again in NG+.

Utterance of Creation

Automatically given to you at the beginning of NG+.

Everdark Reforged

Obtained from final Eikon upgrade for your base sword throughout the game and will be given to you after you defeat Odin.

Once you have all of these components, you can head over to Blackthorne and craft this weapon. While the Gotterdammerung Reforged has a 625/625 value, the Ultima weapon will have a 700/700 value making it probably the most powerful weapon in the game. Unfortunately you will have only a few things you can do with this weapon. A lot of the Arete Stone Challenges won't allow you to use it, so the final boss of the game will be the only real thing it'll be useful for.

Currently, there's no word whether the developers plan on adding DLC or new monsters to the game that will allow you to utilize this sword more, however anything is possible. You could always replay NG+ with the Ultima Sword to get a chance to use it more.

Everything you've completed in the New Game will also have to be completed in New Game Plus as all rewards have been updated to be exclusive to update equipment.
