Diablo 4 can seem a bit restrictive at first with its locked ability slots, but once you level up a fair amount and have all the different types of skills available to you, the game lets you toy around with your button layout as you please.

You can move the skills to different button slots by assigning your skills via the Abilities menu, but if you want to go a bit further with your customization and adjust your Evade, Interact, and Heal inputs, then this guide will show you how to do just that.

How To Change Your Button Controls

Diablo 4 Options Menu-1

In order to find the menu where you can alter your controls, you first have to open the Map. From there, scroll all the way to the far right tab titled Game. You'll get four selectable choices on the left-hand side of the screen, click the one labeled Options, and this should open a new menu window that takes up the entire screen.

Diablo 4 Changing Controls

This menu will have several tabs, scroll right to the one titled Controls, as seen above, then, in this Controls section, scroll down to the Gameplay subsection. Here is where you can adjust your button inputs to your preference. If, for whatever reason, you feel like a particular ability in your skill cycle would fit better in a different button, then you can switch them around here.

What's good about these control options, as opposed to just assigning your skills via the Abilities menu, is that you can even change the buttons for your Interact, Evade, and Potion buttons. Diablo 4 console players have their Interact and Basic attack inputs tied to the same button, but if you want, you can separate these two and give your Basic attack its own unique button.

Furthermore, for console players, if you want your abilities to be more designated to your face buttons or, similarly, to your triggers, you can change the buttons of your Evade and Heal abilities and use said buttons for whatever skill you prefer.
