One of the most important parts of any game is the ability to fast travel. Games without this feature can be frustrating. Fast traveling makes getting around places extremely easy, especially if you're playing a game that has a large map, much like Diablo 4.

Thankfully, you can unlock the ability to fast travel in the game pretty early. As soon as you reach the first major city (Kyovashad), you will notice a fast travel location in the middle of town. Unsurprisingly, this won't be your only fast travel point or even the only way to fast travel.

How To Fast Travel

Diablo 4 Fast Travel To Nearest Town

There are two major ways to fast travel in Diablo 4. One involves your map and the other just involves pressing a specific button. Whether you're trying to get to a specific town or just the closest place, you can easily reach your destination.

Waypoints

Diablo 4 Waypoint

The first type of fast travel you will come across is known as Waypoints. These are points found in major cities, settlements, or important locations, that will allow you to activate them and return at a later date. Once the Waypoint is glowing blue, you will know you have activated it. You will also get a prompt on your screen.

Use Your Map

All you need to do is pull up your menu and select the map. You will then see activated Waypoints. They have a specific icon and will glow bright blue. This indicates that they are there for you to use. If they are grey, that means you will need to approach the Waypoint and activate it.

You can also see these on your mini-map if you're close enough. The more Waypoints you activate, the more locations you can fast travel to. In addition, you also earn Renown when you activate all Waypoints in a specific area.

Teleport To The Nearest Major Town

Diablo 4 Return Portal

There is another way to fast travel if you don't want to pull up your map. This can be done by hitting down on the D-Pad if you're playing consoles, or by tapping T on your keyboard while playing on the PC.

If you are ever in a dungeon and run out of inventory space, use this. You can teleport to town to sell or salvage items and then go through the portal to return to where you were. This is the best way to ensure you never miss out on loot.

This will start a teleporting animation. If you move before the bar fills, the teleportation will cancel. You can also see which town you are teleporting to by looking at the name above your character's head. You can also use the same portal to fast travel back to the location you were in when you originally teleported.

All Waypoints In Certain Areas

The player looks at all the Hawezar Waypoint Locations before traveling to one.

Teleporting To Party Members

Diablo 4 Party Member

Another way you can teleport is by teleporting to your party members. You can do this one of two ways. Depending on what your party members are doing, the game will ask you to teleport to them. Otherwise, you can find a portal to teleport to them.

Being Prompted To Teleport

Diablo 4 Party Teleport

If your party is about to enter a dungeon, is doing a specific quest, or is in another World Tier than you, the game will prompt you to teleport to them. You'll need to press a button and then either accept or reject the offer to teleport. Depending on the circumstance, you may get automatically removed from the party for rejecting.

Using Portals To Teleport To Party Members

Diablo 4 Party Member Portal

If your party members are just out exploring, you can use a portal to teleport to them. To do this, find a Waypoint in the closest major city. The teleportation portal should be beside the Waypoint. It will say "Teleport to (Party Member's Name)." This will lead you right to them.
