Diablo 4 provides a challenge for players by allowing you to increase the World Tier ad nauseam. Shrines provide a rare respite from these ever more difficult worlds - giving you a temporary 60-second buff. There are a number of different buff options you can find, such as a rain of holy arrows or invulnerability. However, what do these Shrines do? Which ones are the best?

All Shrines provide a 35% movement speed buff, and most last for 60 seconds. However, this is where the similarities in their buffs end. Read on to find out everything you need to know about Diablo 4's shrine effects, including which you should be most excited about finding.

7 Conduit Shrine

You are the storm's fury made manifest.

A Conduit Shrine is by no means subtractive from your Diablo experience - it's tons of fun zipping around as a ball of lightning for 60 seconds. However, it takes away your ability to use your kit, and you need to rely on an included jumping attack. This would be fine, except that the attack doesn't scale well into higher World Tiers. Instead, players are likely to find themselves surrounded by angry but mostly unharmed mobs after the effect ends.

6 Lethal Shrine

Fate guides the deft hand to strike true.

A Lethal Shrine causes all of your attacks (except damage over time abilities) to critically strike and do increase damage for 60 seconds. This can be a great find for those who rely on burst damage and critical strikes (rogue anyone?) but they're lackluster for players who have damage over time as a main component of their kit. Overall, this shrine is too situational to be higher on the tier list.

5 Blast Wave Shrine

Arcane power brings destruction.

A Blast Wave Shrine is by no means a bad find, as it allows you to clear large groups of enemies quickly. When you activate the shrine, your character will periodically explode for the next 60 seconds. This attack does considerable damage and takes up about one-third of the screen with its area of effect. However, this buff doesn't provide really any utility, and it may be hard for those ranged, squishy characters to make the most of its damage.

4 Artillery Shrine

Divine weapons abet the worthy.

The Artillery is hands down a better version of the Conduit buff. Your character will shoot blessed arrows alongside their other attacks for the duration of the buff, and these arrows scale with level and World Tier. While this shrine does not offer any utility besides the ability to clear swathes of enemies quickly, finding one is sure to put a smile on your face.

3 Greed Shrine

Wherever the brave strike riches follow.

The Greed Shrine is a feast or famine buff. Upon activation, all enemies will drop gold when damaged by the player for the next 60 seconds. Additionally, your gold pickup range increases. If the shrine spawns while you are near large amounts of enemies, then it can be an amazing way to farm money fast. However, there's also a chance that it expires before you get much use out of it.

2 Channeling Shrine

Endless harmony dwells within.

Channeling Shrines are almost always helpful, and they scale well into harder difficulties. When a player activates a Channeling Shrine, all skills have a 60% reduced cooldown and cost no resources for the next 60 seconds. The best use of this buff is to burst down high-health bosses or elites with your best skills or skip through content with your movement abilities.

1 Protection Shrine

Faith is the Shield against darkness.

Protection shrines are the best in the game. No matter your current game difficulty or build, you can throw yourself into danger without care wherever you find them That's because these shrines make you invulnerable and unstoppable - meaning you cannot take damage to your life pool or be affected by crowd control effects for the duration of the shrine. However, these shrines only last for 30 seconds, so try to make the most of it!
