Finishing the campaign is only the beginning of Diablo 4’s endgame, a vast and rich experience with endless replayability. With various objectives on the map and several bars that need filling, starting the endgame can be disorienting. This list will help you navigate the opportunities that will continue boosting your character by guiding you to the most rewarding content.

10 Level Up To 50, Then 70

Diablo 4 Level Up

If you play through the Diablo 4 campaign without engaging in a bunch of side content, you should finish the story around level 40. Players who get distracted frequently can easily surpass this, but most characters will be far below the level cap of 100.

Instead of focusing on min/maxing your loot, your first goal after beating the campaign should be to reach level 50, followed by level 70. Any fast XP content is okay, but the recommendation is to run Champions Demise in a party on repeat.

9 Complete Capstone Dungeons

Diablo 4 Capstone Dungeons

By the time you reach level 50, you should be ready to tackle the first Capstone Dungeon. These unique instances are milestones in Diablo 4, unlocking new game difficulties that provide greater challenges and significant rewards.

Located in the city of Kyovashad in Fractured Peaks, the Cathedral of Light will become available once you complete the campaign. Clearing the Cathedral of Light will unlock World Tier 3, Nightmare difficulty. With a dungeon difficulty of level 50, you should either be at a similar level or have a strong battle strategy.

8 Collect Dungeon Aspects

Diablo 4 Dungeon Aspects

Strewn throughout the world of Sanctuary are 115 Side Dungeons. These randomly generated instances are filled with objectives that need solving and bosses that need defeating. Upon completing a Side Dungeon for the first time, you’ll be rewarded with a permanent Aspect entry in your Codex of Power.

With the ability to Imprint these Aspects onto any gear that needs improving, claiming these dungeon Aspects is vital to your build. Open your map and locate the best Aspects for your class, then prioritize clearing those dungeons first.

7 Push Nightmare Dungeons

If Side Dungeons are too easy for you, seek out Nightmare Dungeon Sigils and face a never-ending scale of difficulty. One of the main endgame activities, Nightmare Dungeons are similar to Side Dungeons but come with increased mechanics and improved treasures.

With no cap on how high Nightmare Sigils can go, Tier 1-20 require Wold Tier 3, and Tier 21+ can only be completed when your game is set to World Tier 4. These challenges will test your skill and your gear but will reward you with epic loot and Glyph upgrades.

6 Claim The Altars Of Lilith

Diablo 4 Altars of Lilith

Scattered throughout Sanctuary, stone statues of Lilith have been erected by her minions. When you find and claim these statues, you’ll collect a permanent power increase for all of your characters.

Offering +2 to a stat (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, or WIllpower), +5 to your maximum Murmuring Obol capacity, or an additional Paragon Point, hunting for the Altars of Lilith will grant a tremendous boost. Especially impactful for players who want to roll alternate characters, the Altars of Lilith provide valuable bonuses that add up quickly.

5 Engage In PVP

Diablo 4 PVP

Player vs player combat in Diablo 4 is compelling, exciting, and sometimes scary. Located in the Dry Steppes, the Fields of Hatred are the killing grounds for PVP. If you wander into the Fields uninitiated, don’t worry, you need to be Marked for Blood before the chaos begins.

Once you turn on Mark for Blood, you can attack anyone else Marked for Blood and be attacked by them. Killing players or monsters within the Fields of Hatred will drop Seeds of Hatred, which can then be purified into Red Dust (PVP currency for gear and unique rewards).

4 Defeat World Bosses

Diablo 4 World Bosses

One of the most interesting features of Diablo 4 is the massive World Bosses roaming around. Spawning every 6 hours, there are 3 rotating World Bosses - Ashava the Pestilent, Avarice the Gold Cursed, and Wandering Death, Death Given Life.

Upon encountering one of these World Bosses, your camera will automatically zoom out to fit the enormous monster on your screen. These special fights drop helpful loot, including Scattered Prisms and a weekly Legendary Grand Cache. You should seek out a World Boss event at least once a week if not every time they spawn.

3 Gather Grim Favors

Diablo 4 Grim Favors

Located in The Writhing Mire of Hawezar, The Tree of Whispers will be introduced after completing the campaign. The Tree asks you to silence the Whispers it has marked on the map and in return you’ll be granted Grim Favors. Upon collecting 10 Grim Favors, return to The Tree of Whispers and receive a gift.

You’ll be given a choice of 3 loot caches, each focusing on a different assortment of gear. If presented with the opportunity to select a Greater Collection of loot, it’ll contain more spoils for your efforts.

2 Clear Helltides

Diablo 4 Helltide

Randomly infecting zones throughout Sanctuary, the Helltide will periodically rise. When a zone has been demonically controlled by a Helltide event, slaying foes and completing objectives will reward you with Aberrant Cinders. This currency can be used to unlock special loot caches that have been left throughout the Helltide.

Special treasure chests in Helltide regions, Tortured Gifts, contain an assortment of random loot as well as a specific reward. The chest will specify what gear slot it contains and the required number of Cinders to unlock it.

1 Finish Renown

Diablo 4 Finish Renown

One of the grindiest, but most rewarding, activities in Diablo 4 is the Renown system. For each of the 5 regions, you’ll earn Renown for completing tasks and be given rewards for doing so. Discovering Areas, activating Waypoints, conquering Strongholds, clearing Side Dungeons, completing Side Quests, and claiming Altars of Lilith all grant Renown.

Upon reaching enough Renown in a region you’ll be granted Bonus XP, Gold, and an account-wide buff. The account-wide rewards provide Skill Points, Potion Charges, Max Obols, and Paragon Points to every one of your characters.
