One of the biggest draws of Diablo 4 is the ability to team up with friends and other players to slay the monsters of Hell. You can team up with three other people - bringing the party total to 4 - to level up, take on quests, and do whatever you want in the world.

You may be stuck wondering how to start a party, as it may not be the most obvious thing at first. However, once you do know what you are doing, it really is a breeze to team up with both people you know, and even some randoms, whenever you want.

How To Build Your Party

Diablo 4 - Social Screen in Menu

You will be able to start building your party by going to your Map screen and cycling through the tabs. Once on the Social tab, look to the right side of the screen. Here, you will see a few different lists:

  • Friends List - any player that you have friended through Battle.net, regardless of the platform they are playing on
  • Console Friends (for those on console) - list of friends on the console you are playing on
  • Local Players - these are any players who are in your world with you
  • Clan Members - a list of all the members in your Clan, should you be a part of one

Regardless of which kind of person you want to join up with, you will want to highlight their name and select it. This will bring up a small menu with a lot of options. You are going to want to select the "Invite to Party" option, which is the fourth one. This will send an invite to the player, and if they accept it, they will join your party.

You can also choose to join their party with the "Request to Join Party" option. This will require them to approve it, and once they do, you can play with them in a group.

You can also approach random players in the open world and press E on the keyboard or up on the controller D-Pad to bring up the wheel. You can then select to invite them to your party on the right side of the wheel.

It's as easy as that, and is something that is absolutely recommended for any and all players in Diablo 4. Not only does it make the game more fun to have companions, but you will also receive a 10% XP buff for as long as you are playing with someone in your party.

Even better, you don't have to worry about the XP and gear getting messed up if you are joining a lower level, as it scales to your level all the time. This means you will always get the XP you need to get at your level.

The only thing to keep in mind is story progression: you will be fine as long you are all at the same point in the story, but if not, then the story will be based on the host player's progress. This means that you run the risk of spoilers if you are not as far as the person you are joining.
