Treasure Goblins are returning enemies from other Diablo games. These enemies are small goblins that carry large sacks on their backs. It is said that they are servants of the baroness Greed. They steal loot and will carry them back to her.

What Are Treasure Goblins?

Diablo 4 Treasure Goblin Running

Treasure Goblins are random spawns that will drop some pretty great treasure when you kill them. Once you see one, you can get some great items (including legendary items) and money from them. They will run pretty quickly, so don't let them get away. These enemies will not fight with you. Instead, their main goal is to escape from you. They will only flee from you.

Diablo 4 Treasure Goblin Icon

If there is a Treasure Goblin around, you will see it on your mini-map. The icon for these enemies looks like a small goblin with a sack. If you're close enough to it, it will even show up on your regular map.

What Happens If A Treasure Goblin Gets Away?

As soon as they are spotted, Treasure Goblins will run away. This is why keeping an eye on your mini-map is a great idea. Once far enough away, they will begin to open a yellow portal to escape. If you see a Treasure Goblin cast a spell like the one above, it is trying to open a portal.

If you attack them while they are doing this, they will stop summoning the portal and run again. If the portal opens all the way, the Treasure Goblin will be lost, and you cannot get it back.

Diablo 4 Treasure Goblin Drop

If you're lucky, the Treasure Goblin may drop a Legendary Item when it dies, some Mount Armor, or even a Mount. You can also get some items that you could share with your other characters.

How Do You Find Treasure Goblins?

DM: Diablo 4 on Youtube

As mentioned previously, Treasure Goblins are random spawns. You are able to find them anywhere in the game. They can spawn in cellars, out in the open, or in dungeons. Anywhere you can fight enemies, they have a chance of spawning into the game. Interestingly, YouTuber DM: Diablo 4 found out that cellars have a chance of spawning either a Treasure Goblin or a whole cellar full of Treasure Goblins. Without any real way of knowing what may be in the surrounding cellars, you'll definitely want to check them all out, just in case.
