Diablo 4 is full of Easter Eggs for players to discover. Additionally, it really has collectibles to spare with Strongholds, Side Dungeons, Altars of Lilith, and so much more. One fun find that straddles these two categories are Faded Plaques.
Faded Plaques are statues found in the Overworld that, when examined, yield a partially lost message. If a player solves this riddle and performs the correct emote in front of the statue they will receive a boon. For Faded Plaque solutions, how to recognize them, and where to find them keep reading.
Where To Find Faded Plaques
Similar to Shrines, Faded Plaques appear in the Overworld randomly. If you complete a Faded Plaque and then leave the area, it will disappear. Not much is known about their spawn conditions, other than they appear against walls, and show up for other players as well as you. It is possible to refresh their spawn by changing the game instance (by entering a cellar or dungeon for instance) if you are close enough.
What To Do At A Faded Plaque
When you see a Faded Plaque, you will first need to interact with it and read the inscription. There are seven known inscriptions, which is selected randomly on spawn. Each inscription is connected to one of the games' Emotes you have bound to your action wheel by default. The clue for which Emote is required is the capitalized word in the inscription.

Once you've determined the correct emote, stand on the circle in front of the statue and perform the emote. This will trigger a message saying "You feel a strange presence gazing deep into your soul" along with receiving your reward. These rewards are temporary, usually lasting a couple of minutes.
Possible Boons
There are a total of six known rewards for completing a Faded Plaque, although it appears that these are not always connected to only one Emote.
- Receive a small Movement Speed increase
- More health potions drop from enemies; become temporarily Unstoppable
- 7 Potions drop around you immediately
- Grants a Barrier Buff against the next attack
- Turns you invisible to enemies (20% extra damage on first attack, which ends the effect)
- A blue spiritual fox spawns to fight with you
