Diablo 4's main campaign only represents about half of the content players can engage in. Diablo 4's endgame content will give players even more challenging bosses to face, rewarding them with powerful legendary gear that can take their character to the next level.

This endgame content will give players access to new world tiers to challenge, along with difficult new dungeons that require detailed character builds to even stand a chance. Another one of these changes to the end game is the introduction of Helltide events, which sees areas of Sanctuary falling to the influence of Hell.

What Are Helltide Events?

Player Standing Next To A Tortured Chest

Helltide events happen randomly throughout the day and last one real-world hour. During this time, a section of the map will have the Helltide icon appear over it on the map, and the affected area will appear red. In the actual world, the land is heavily affected by Hell, changing the appearance of the land and greatly strengthening the monsters within. Monsters present in the affected area will scale to always be stronger than you, giving you more of a challenge with each fight.

Helltides affect the land itself, growing new plants such as Fiend Roses. Tortured chests will also appear through the affected area, with players able to obtain a limited-time currency during the event to open the chests for powerful rewards. Be sure to also watch out for falling meteors and other unique hazards that appear during the Helltide.

While fighting enemies in a Helltide event, players will obtain Aberrant Cinders, which can be used to open up the exclusive chest that appears during the event. Should you die in the Helltide, some of your Cinders will be lost. After the current Helltide event ends, all of your Cinders will disappear, meaning you should take full advantage of the hour-long event and spend all of your Cinders as soon as you get them.

Where To Find Helltide Events

Helltide events will happen randomly across different regions of the map but can't be accessed right away. To see Helltide events happening, players must first beat the main campaign of Diablo 4. After that, The Cathedral Of Light Capstone Dungeon must be completed to unlock World Tier 3. Helltide events only spawn for those playing in World Tier 3 and 4. Changing your world tier during a Helltide will cause it to disappear on your map unless you switch your world tier back.

Helltide Event Timer

Diablo 4 Aberrant Cinders

Helltide events are currently spawning on a 2-hour and 15-minute timer. The first hour will have the Helltide event active, with there being a 1-hour 15-minute delay before the next event begins. This additional 15 minutes between each event makes Helltides spawn at slightly different times each day but can be beneficial for those who can only play at the same time each day as events will slowly cycle into that time frame.
