It's not just the spawn of Hell that you can fight your way through in Diablo 4; you can also bring pain to other players. PvP has been in the Diablo series for a long time and this newest entry is no different. If you're brave enough, you will be able to take your talents into battle against another human.

However, the system is a little different in this game and works in its own way from previous entries. This new system, while being new, is still expansive and offers you plenty of rewards worth pursuing as you take to fighting your own kind.

How To Play PvP In Diablo 4

Diablo 4 - Fields of Hatred Locations on Map

PvP is not available in just any part of the game; you will need to find the specific zones for PvP called the Fields of Hatred. There are two locations for Fields of Hatred, one in the Dry Steppes and the other is in Kehjistan. You can find these zones by spotting the red-tinted areas on your map.

These are the Fields of Hatred, and each one has a few options for entrances. In these areas, you will not only be fighting other players but there will also be PvE elements in play as well. This means that you will have to keep your wits about you should you be fighting some NPCs, as it's easy for another player to sneak up on you. Just enter the area, and you will be going straight into PvP, so be ready as you cross that threshold.

Mechanics Of PvP

Diablo 4 - Fields of Hatred In-Game

As you fight other players, you will be given a new resource called Seeds of Hatred. These things can then be taken to vendors outside the arena to unlock some specific cosmetic rewards. If you are killed, however, before you leave, then the player who killed you can take them.

Luckily, there are Shrines around the area called Altars of Extraction that you can take the Seeds of Hatred to, and once you channel them with the Shrine, they will be permanent and cannot be looted off your dead body. This will turn the Seeds of Hatred into Red Dust, which is the currency that you will take to the vendors. Further, there are events that will pop up around the battlefield that will pit you against other players and NPC's, that will offer their own rewards as well. And as you do better and better, there will be a bounty placed on your head. Whoever kills the bountied player will receive a really good reward.

All the rewards you can unlock in the Fields of Hatred are cosmetics, weapons, mounts, outfits, and more. And you can even unlock these without fighting another enemy at all, if you're able to just focus on the PvE events. It's just very hard to avoid other players completely. Overall, the PvP system in Diablo 4 feels very similar to something like Escape From Tarkov or the new Warzone 2: DMZ mode. It's all about getting in, collecting what you need to do, and then extracting that stuff out to help you in the rest of the game.
