Diablo 4 features an extensive crafting system with over 20 unique resources to collect. Most resources are easy to farm (if a little tedious) once you know where to look, but this information isn't always spelled out.

Instead, players turn to a guide to help them fill in the blanks. Whether you've found a material and don't know what to do with it, or desperately need that one ingredient for an awesome upgrade, we've got you.

Crafting Materials In Diablo 4

Diablo 4 Upgrade Potion

Crafting materials are a key component of Diablo 4, and should always be picked up when available. These materials are kept in a hidden inventory, don't take up any space, and do not have a stacking limit.

In the mid to late game, you'll be able to use them to craft consumables and upgrades for your gear. These upgrades are the most reliable and important power spike for your character once their build is set up.

Obtaining

Crafting materials can be acquired in one of a few ways. Some materials are available through multiple methods, while others only appear in a specific circumstance. Ways to gather materials include:

  • Enemy drops
  • Salvaging gear
  • Interactable nodes in the Overworld
  • Side quest reward caches

Uses

Crafting materials are used in a wide variety of pursuits including:

  • Upgrading potions
  • Upgrading gear
  • Adding Sockets to gear
  • Crafting Nightmare Sigils
  • Crafting Incense
  • Crafting Elixirs

While a few of these activities will be important in your first run-through of the game, most are geared toward end-game play. However, it is advised to grab any resources you happen across. They do not take up inventory space nor do they have a stacking limit.

Plants

The Occultist Menu Using Fiend Roses

These Ores are used for upgrading armor and jewelry at the respective vendors.

Skins

The player looks at all the Scosglen Waypoint locations.

Animal skins, like ores, are fairly common and not very diverse. You'll find them as a drop from bestial enemies, or as a quest reward. You'll need them to improve your armor via upgrading, so you can potentially go through a lot of it.

Rawhide

Small wildlife and beasts in all regions of Sanctuary

Superior Leather

Large wildlife and beasts in all regions of Sanctuary

While these resources are found all over the game, you'll have the best luck finding them in areas with mostly beast enemies. The regions of Scosglen (especially the Morrdaine Lodge Stronghold) are notoriously good for this.

Monster Parts

Diablo 4 Grave Dust

Monster Parts come from exactly where you'd think - these materials are only found as drops from fighting enemies. Monster part crafting materials will be required to upgrade your potions. The drop rates for these crafting materials can be low, meaning it can take a while to farm them.

Other

Coiling Ward Item and A Legendary Armor Piece

These are items that do not fit into one of the other categories. Most are obtained by salvaging unwanted gear, except for Forgotten Souls which are Hell Tide exclusive. You'll use these materials for late-game upgrades to high-tier gear, or the crafting of Nightmare Sigils.
