As you explore the world hacking away at the hordes of enemies, diving into dungeons, and getting lost in the endless sea of quests, you are bound to notice that there is a new type of currency available, Murmuring Obols. We’ll walk you through what they are, where to use them, and how to farm them below.

What Are Murmuring Obols

As mentioned before, Murmuring Obols is a new form of currency that you will gain access to in the game. Unlike the core currency, gold, Murmuring Obols can only be used to purchase specific items in the game.

To use your Murmuring Obols, you’ll need to visit the Purveyor of Curiosities shop found in most towns. Here, you can spend anywhere from 20-80 Murmuring Obols to get a random weapon gear item. This shop functions essentially as a gatcha system, giving you a chance to score anything from a common to a legendary item.

How To Farm Murmuring Obols

Event location and Murmuring Obols Reward

Since you will basically be gambling your Obols to get quality gear, you are going to need a steady supply of them if you want to score some legendary items. You can earn Murmuring Obols by completing events throughout the world.

Events will randomly pop up on the map and are marked by a golden outline surrounding the event area. While they are random, there are always plenty of them available if you are willing to make the trip. You can even jump from event to event as you make your way across the map. Upon completing each event, a loot chest will drop containing gold, weapons, gear, items, and those precious Murmuring Obols.

Best Farming Path

Farming Obols Path near Kyovashad

Since events randomly pop up all over the world map, there are going to be multiple paths you can follow to hop from event to event, scraping up all those juicy Murmuring Obols along the way. There are some areas later in the game that have much harder enemy types, and along with them come more interesting events. Since you will want to start collecting your Obols as soon as possible, we've chosen the best path in the early game.

Starting from Kyovashad, you'll want to head out of one of the western exits. On the road to the Dry Steppes, there are three events that are in close proximity to each other, making it easy to just run from one to the next, and double back to do it again if you so please. We've marked them for you on the map image above, and have ranked their difficulty from 1-3, with 1 being the hardest. Happy hunting!
