Throughout your time with Diablo 4, you will encounter all manner of different items. Each will come in different rarities and have different conditions in order to obtain them. This includes Sacred Items and Ancestral Items.
Diablo is a game that has always been about discarding your old gear for much stronger gear as you reach higher levels, Ancestral gear will come naturally during your progression as you take on the game at higher World Tiers. As a rule of thumb, you should always try to play at the highest difficulty you can handle to get your hands on the best loot.
What Are Ancestral Items In Diablo 4?
Both Sacred Items and Ancestral Items are simply more powerful versions of gear you may have already come across at lower World Tiers. Sacred Items drop during World Tier 3, while Ancestral Items will start to drop during World Tier 4.
Where Can You Get Ancestral Items?
Before you are able to start getting these items, you will need to have already completed the game’s campaign and a specific capstone dungeon. The dungeon is the Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon located near Dry Steppes. Once you have completed this dungeon, you will be able to start playing World Tier 4 and these items will start to drop from numerous sources. These sources include slaying one of the many enemies of the game, opening chests scattered throughout the world, or even by smashing objects that happen to be in the area you are in.
Can You Get Ancestral Unique Items?
All unique items you may have on your character at lower world tiers can be found as Sacred Items in World Tier 3 and as Ancestral in World Tier 4. Ancestral is just something added to the start of the name of the gear to let you know that its stats are much higher than any previous version you may have had of it. You should always use Ancestral Unique Items over any previous version you may have found while playing the game at lower levels.
