Sometimes traversing through the Sanctuary in Diablo 4 can be a bit grueling. It takes time to reach new locations on foot, and it can dominate most of your hours in the game, preventing you from focusing on quests and building.
Thankfully, you can eventually get a mount in the game that will take you wherever you need to go. There are a ton of mounts to choose from as well, so you'll also have the option to customize them however you want.
How To Unlock Mounts
Even though you can eventually get a mount in the game, you'll need to be pretty far into the campaign before you are given the chance to unlock them. You will need to complete these acts first:
- Act 1
- Act 2
- Act 3
Once you have completed all of these acts fully, you'll begin Act 4. At the very start, you'll receive the Priority Quest, Mount: Donan's Favor. This is where you will be able to unlock and begin using mounts, so you'll want to complete this quest as soon as it pops up.
You can find Donan within Kyovashad, at the cathedral in the northern region of the city. He will suggest that you visit the Stable Master in Kyovashad, which is where you will head next after talking with Donan. You'll receive your first mount here, and can now begin taking it with you on your travels.
How To Use & Get More Mounts
To use your mount, all you will need to do is press the Z button on your keyboard or the right button on your controller's D-Pad. The hotbar at the bottom will then switch to actions you can use while riding your horse, including a speed boost and dismount.
If you're looking to unlock more mounts, there are a few ways to go about this. You can either:
- Purchase new mounts from the Diablo 4 shop (this will cost real money, so you should only purchase these if you really want them)
- Receive special mounts from the Digital Deluxe and Ultimate Editions of the game, or from the pre-order of all versions
- Purchase new mounts at stables in different regions
You can also customize your horses, with new items like armor and horseshoes. You can purchase these items from stable masters in each new town you discover in the game.
