The Rogue is a very nimble and spry class to play in Diablo 4. While other classes like Barbarian favor melee, and Sorcerers favor range, the Rogue will be dashing and diving between both melee and ranged combat.

RELATED: Diablo 4: Renown Explained

Unlike the Barbarian, the Rogue does not have a lot of armor and will need to avoid being hit if they are to stay alive. This hybrid playstyle fills the gap between being a tank or a glass cannon and is the favored choice among a lot of players.

Rogue Specializations

Diablo 4 Rogue

As stated before, don’t expect to be going in as a melee juggernaut or unleashing staggeringly high damage numbers while out of anything’s range — those are not what these Rogue builds will be focusing on. Among these builds will be one for laying traps to lure your opponents on: Trapper Rogue. As well as a build for when you want to focus on tearing through targets with direct damage and high crit chances: Shredder Rogue.

Trapper Rogue Playstyle

Rogue Set

Now that you have seen everything on how to build a Trapper Rogue, the next step is understanding how to play one. This build is all about controlling the battle area. You will be constantly applying traps the moment cooldowns finish to keep as much damage happening as you can while you continuously bounce around the map striking with direct damage when able. This build holds an edge in terms of survivability over the other one.

To optimize this, start by concealing yourself to get into the perfect spot, then place down 4 of your Poison Traps. If you try to place more, the oldest trap will be removed, so always try to have 4 out at the same time. Furthermore, the first trap will be the one that activates Subverting Stealth, and its bonus only lasts while the skill that broke your Conceal is still in effect. After you have placed your 4 Poison Traps, your skill rotation will be Puncture, Death Trap, and Rapid Fire. Repeat until the area is clear and reset for the next encounter.

Diablo 4 Rogue

To effectively use this build, you will Dash when encountering enemies. This will trigger an automatic smoke grenade from Aspect of Quickening Fog. When you don't have dash ready, you can use the Smoke Grenade skill. You will alternate between Poison Trap and Poison Imbuement to keep enemies poisoned. When enemies are in a line, use your Core Skill to penetrate them all in the same hit.
