The Dry Steppes is the region of the map found west of where you start. It can be reached fairly quickly after beginning the game. One of the side quests in this region is Keeping The Old Traditions and for those relying on the note you receive on how to complete the quest, the right answer is definitely not clear.

Starting The Quest And Finding The Statue

The Statutes Location On The Map

This quest is found in the Untamed Scarps area of the Dry Steppes and begins after reading a book with a note that tells the player to "Keep The Old Traditions." After reading this note, the quest will begin, and the location of the statue will be marked on your map. The statue is just to the north, on the other side of the nearby mountains and is easily found when checking your map. Now at the statue, you'll need to make your character keep the old traditions.

How To Complete The Quest

Player Equipping The Yes Emote To Their Emote Wheel

To complete this quest, players will need to use a specific emote, one that does not come already slotted in their emote wheel. To open your emote wheel, you'll need to press up on the d-pad for both PlayStation and Xbox or "E" if you're playing on PC. Following this, you'll need to equip and use the "Yes" emote.

Press the button to customize your emote wheel, "Y" on Xbox, triangle on PlayStation, or simply press customize on PC. Doing so will open up the full emote wheel and allow you to customize it with any of the other provided emotes. Now, using the emote wheel, use the "Yes" emote standing in front of the statue. Doing so will keep the old traditions, and a hidden chest will pop out of the ground near the statue. Looting this chest will complete the quest and reward you with whatever is found in the hidden chest.
