There are a lot of things missing in Diablo 4, and the world is a vast, unforgiving place to have to track them down when needed. Many characters are looking for other NPC's and objects that they have lost, and you will be tasked with helping them find their lost goods.
The Woodsman of Nevesk is a quest that tasks you with tracking down a mythical weapon for a character in Nevesk, a small encampment near Kyovashad. What makes this quest tricky is that the area you need to search is pretty large and can take a while to track the item down if you don't know where to go.
Starting The Quest
You can find this quest in Nevesk, which is southwest of Kyovashad. When you enter the area, you will need to find Magdalena, who is scrounging for something near the middle of town, outside the chapel. You can look for the exclamation mark on your map to find her exact location.
Approach her and start the conversation. She will tell you that she is looking for a mythical axe, but she is both lazy and unable to figure out its location. So naturally, she asks you to find the axe for her and bring it back to her. She mentions that the axe is in the woods near the settlement and marks the general area on your map.
Completing The Quest
Now, this part is a little tricky, because when you look at your map, you will notice that the area you need to search is pretty big. It covers about four different paths you can take, and even worse, there are a lot of enemies in the area that will be swarming you when you go in. But that's made easier when you know where it is: the axe is at the very top of the area that is highlighted at a little ledge that overlooks a small clearing. You will find the large axe sticking out of a tree stump near a couple of torches; it's very hard to miss given its size. You can approach the axe and interact with it to pick it up. But when you do, be ready for a fight.
As soon as you pick the axe up, The Woodsman himself will spawn and attack you. This large demonic mini-boss is slow and powerful, utilizing skills similar to that of the Butcher. The fight itself isn't too difficult as long as you do your best to avoid as many of his powerful hits as possible. Eventually, The Woodsman will fall, and the battle will be over. Time to take the axe back to Magdalena, who can be found in the same location she was in before. She will not be a fan of the story you tell her about getting it. As a result, she will forego keeping the axe and leave it with you instead to use. She will also give you a Cache, Gold, and some XP.
