Dry Steppes is the third region of Diablo 4's massive open world and home to most of the third act. These sand-encrusted hills are vast, and like any other region in Diablo 4, there's one tool that can help you cross them with ease: Waypoints.

Waypoints are the cornerstone of Diablo 4's fast travel system, but before you can use them, you'll have to discover them. Here's where you can find each Waypoint in the Dry Steppes and which ones will be most useful for blazing through the quests or selling your gear. Waypoints are a great way to come back to past areas to hunt for dungeons you may have missed and claim the rewards they have inside, such as Aspects for your Codex of Power.

Updated by Chad Thesen on July 2, 2023: Diablo 4 features many dungeons to make your way through, and inside these dungeons will be powerful aspects for your characters to make use of. This guide has been updated to include embedded links for the dungeons located in the same region, as well as an embedded link for all the information you will need about the basics of Aspects.

Farobru

The first and likely least used Waypoint in the Dry Steppes is the small border town of Farobru located in the top middle of the region. This Waypoint is along the natural path from Scosglen into the Dry Steppes, making it easy to grab as you move from the second to the third act. However, it offers little in the way of usefulness.

The services at Farobru are decent as both a weapon and jewelry vendor make it their home, but its location is downright awful. There are no nearby dungeons that aren't closer to another Waypoint, and the main quest stays far away from this town.

Ked Bardu

Ked Bardu is the sprawling desert trade city that marks the Dry Steppes capital. Located in the top middle of the region, it is the closest Waypoint to a surprising chunk of the map, and you'll also spend a lot of the main quest in and around this city.

In terms of services, Ked Bardu has it all. Access to your stash, an occultist, a jeweler, plenty of vendors, and more. This will be a must-grab Waypoint as you work your way through the third act.

Hidden Overlook

The Hidden Overlook is a bit of an odd Waypoint. Located in the middle right of the Dry Steppes, it serves as a decent travel point, but more importantly, it is right next to a few dungeons that also get used in the main quest line.

There are no services to speak of, but you can't get much closer to a dungeon. This makes Hidden Overlook a good place to farm experience, as you can clear the dungeon, step outside, and reset it — all without ever having to deal with enemies outside the dungeon.

Fate's Retreat

Fate's Retreat is another minimalist Waypoint. Located in the middle right of the region, just above the Hidden Overlook, Fate's Retreat is the closest Waypoint to a handful of quests near the end of act three.

As with Hidden Overlook, there are no services to speak of; however, Fate's Retreat does offer a decent location on the map, allowing you to get much closer to a handful of dungeons and events.

The Onyx Watchtower

The Onyx Watchtower is one of the hidden Waypoints in the region, as you'll have to clear out the Onyx Watchtower Stronghold before it appears. Located in the center of the Dry Steppes, this Waypoint offers a very convenient fast-travel location and a modest array of services.

Clearing out the Onyx Watchtower will have you go head-to-head with a bandit group, sabotaging their supplies and killing their leaders before ultimately dueling with the captain, a stealthy rogue with a taste for firebombs. Once the Waypoint is unlocked, you'll have access to a weapon vendor, an armor vendor, and a blacksmith.

Ruins Of Qara-Yisu

In a slight departure from earlier regions, the Ruins of Qara-Yisu is another stronghold that you'll have to complete in order to unlock the Waypoint. Located in the bottom right of the map, this Waypoint serves as an exceptional fast travel location, letting you quickly access a huge swath of the map that has very little access otherwise.

Clearing out the stronghold will have you battling a host of demons erecting huge spires before duking it out with the head demon — a spindly spell caster for a change. Once unlocked, the settlement will offer a decent array of services, including stables, some vendors, and a blacksmith.

Jirandai

The player looks at the Jirandai Waypoint Location

Jirandai is a border town Waypoint with the southern region of Kehjistan, located in the bottom middle of Dry Steppes. Like Farobru, you'll likely pass through this town as you continue further into the third act, but there are no quests located directly next to it.

Despite its modest location, the services in Jirandai are actually quite good. With a curiosities vendor, armor vendor, weapons vendor, and jewelry vendor, this Waypoint is a great place to stop and shop every once in a while.

Alzuuda

The player looks at the Alzuuda Waypoint Location

Alzuuda is the final and perhaps most important Waypoint in the Dry Steppes. Located in the middle right of the region, this large town sits next to the earliest PvP area in the game, the Plains of Hatred. This means it has all types of services, will be a great place to travel to whenever you feel like fighting it out, and even with all of that aside, it still gives you access to a huge swath of the Dry Steppes.

As a PvP Waypoint, it comes packed to the brim with all types of services, and some of those services can only be found here. There are four shops where you can spend your Red Dust, the PvP currency of Diablo 4, to buy better gear, exclusive cosmetics, and powerful PvP items. This Waypoint is an absolute must-grab.
