Diablo 4 is packed to the brim with hell spawn, demons to slay, and endless waves of undead armies to burn through. Outside the never-ending minions that inhabit Sanctuary, the game also features loads of bosses to beat down too. While many of those bosses can be found through random encounters, World Boss sightings, and side missions, some of the main Big Baddies are fought through the main missions of Diablo 4.

Brol the Tyrant King is one of those bosses that cannot be avoided or skipped. Brol can be found at the end of "Descent Into Flame" main mission quest and is a huge cannibal Barbarian that sports metal chains where his hair should be. Brol the Tyrant King might present a unique challenge for players that haven't been tested by Diablo 4 enough, so if you keep getting bludgeoned into oblivion, here the quick and easy guide to beating Brol, the Tyrant King.

Updated by Chad Thesen on July 2, 2023: Diablo 4 features many bosses and each of them will have different kinds of loot they drop. Sometimes the loot drops will be significantly better than others due to random drop chances, but a lot of enemies can still offer a bare minimum or at least an "expected" drop. This guide has been updated to include a rewards section so players can be aware of what they should expect to get.

Brol Attack Types

Overall, Brol the Tyrant King only has three main abilities. His first one is a white-colored circle smackdown. Players can see him winding the attack up and should move out of the circle asap. The white ring under Brol probably does the most damage and needs to be avoided at all costs during the fight. Once 1/4 of Brol's health is gone, he will begin summoning groups of cannibals, which are essentially NPC Barbarians with leaping stun-strikes.

Make sure you take out the cannibal minions that spawn first because they can stun you and set up Brol for an easy smash, so don't ignore them. Brol the Tyrant King's third attack is a running bull-charge that stuns. Brol will lower his shoulder, turn red, and sprint across the screen in the general direction of his target. Again, just as with the minions he spawns, try to avoid getting stunned by his dashing red attack because he'll have time for an easy cleanup if you're just stunned in place. A good sidestep or dash is a great choice here.

How To Beat Brol The Tyrant King

To win against Brol, the fight is based around two things: avoiding his abilities and killing his minions quickly. If you get caught by either a minion stun or his bull charge one, that might be all it takes to lose the fight. So, you'll want to make sure that you can kill his cannibal minions as quickly as possible while avoiding Brol's own unique attacks. Overall, the best approach is to kite Brol around while waiting for your abilities to recharge. However, one unique aspect about Brol is that once he is alone, as long as you dodge the stun and the white circle, he's a fairly easy boss to deal with.

Thus, the yin and yang of the fight presents itself: players can take on Brol and tank or kite him without too much trouble, but if any ability lands one time or his minions land a single stun, the fight can turn into chaos and death very quickly. Once you've taken The Tyrant King down, he should drop gold, at least 1 Rare gear item, and at least 1 Legendary gear item. After trying out the strategies here, if you're still having consistent trouble with Brol the Tyrant King, just recruit some friends or local players to help.

What Rewards Do You Get?

Diablo 4 Brol

Like the rest of the bosses, there is a pool of what rewards you "could" get. What you can expect is the completion of the main quest, Descent Into Flame, as well as a nice haul of gold and experience. This will, of course, scale depending on the difficulty you are playing on. If the dice gods wish to see you suffer, then you may also walk away with nothing more than magic (blue) and rare (yellow), but there is always a chance for a legendary to pop off, and the higher you set that difficulty, the more likely that will happen.
